Anthony pondering $65 million extension

By Marc J. Spears, Yahoo! Sports Staff 5 hours, 28 minutes ago

Carmelo Anthony(notes) has received a three-year contract extension offer worth about $65 million from the Denver Nuggets.

Anthony told Yahoo! Sports he is reviewing the Nuggets’ proposal with his agents and wants to make sure the franchise is committed to improving before agreeing to sign the deal.

“I feel good about it,” Anthony said. “I appreciate them putting it on the table and wanting me to extend my career there. At the end of the day it’s about winning. If I feel I can win there, I will stay.

“I’ve been there five years. I’m comfortable there. Family is there. If I’m able to compete for a championship, I’m there.”

Anthony could wait to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, but the NBA is facing a possible lockout when the collective bargaining agreement expires at the end of the season. Commissioner David Stern and team owners are pushing to lower maximum salaries and the maximum length of contracts in a new CBA.

“That’s taking a risk, a chance,” Anthony said.

None. Ducks actually believes that the spurs might be able to get Melo.
If Parker is in the deal, ducks will be the first person to shoot it down. :lol

Relation to the Spurs?

Indirect relation. Jefferson and Parker are both 2011 expirings, which is the same as Carmelo Anthony, the biggest fish in the pond of 2011 FA class.

Well it could be that alot of the 2011 free agents are looking at what could happen with the new CBA salary rules. We all know the salary cap is going to be lowered so no wonder people like Melo, and Durant are looking at getting extensions? Do you think the Thunder are not going to give Durant the extension he wants?

You have to wonder if Parker is not in that same group of guys?

ducks has this idea that carmelo is better than lebron, his second most hated player besides manu.

So, because he loves melo so much, and he loves the spurs, figures it makes sense they go together.

there.

Uh, 3 years and $65M? I'm pretty sure that's more money than the CBA would allow for.

I don't see what Carmelo has to do with The Spurs, but at the end of his contract, if we can get him...That would be nice, but I'm sure he's getting the hell out of Denver as soon as he can. Just like Parker will be playing somewhere else if we don't get anything for him soon.
