The San Antonio Spurs (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/sas/) have the 20th pick in today's draft, which is the highest team has had since 1997 when the team selected Tim Duncan (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3173/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3173/news) before all others. According to the San Antonio Express-News, there's been a lot of talk (http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/courtside/2010/06/assessing-parke.html)about three-time All-Star point guard Tony Parker (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3527/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3527/news) getting traded in order for the team to move up higher in today's draft.
The Spurs interviewed Georgia Tech's Derrick Favors last month, a man everyone figures will go much higher than the 20h pick. The paper reports that the Spurs have possibly been in talks with the Indiana Packers, which will select 10th in today's draft.
Two sources from two different teams with top-10 picks told the paper, though, that Parker isn't likely headed anywhere. "I wouldn't put much credence in it," one Eastern Conference executive told the paper.

Sweet title! I was gonna start a thread called I really enjoy watching Kobe win titles. Has about as much truth to it as his title does.

Particularly if they're talking to the Indiana Packers.

There's nothing in there that mentions the Spurs are definitely keeping Parker.

If they were dead set on keeping Parker, somebody from the Spurs FO would've said something by now to kill all the trade rumors. They may very well be planning on keeping him, but it's obvious that they're listening to trade offers.

I agree Parker is not going anywhere. The FO needs to know if the exisitng team with Splitter will work before they consider any trade. My first belief is that we will trade the pick. If we do not trade the pick then I believe they will selct Brackins for a cheaper more athletic version of Bonner.

The poster didn't just make up the title - it's the title on Yahoo.

That said, I'm changing the title.

At first I was really intrigued by the spurs trading up and getting Favors, but on second thought:

1. I think it will take more than just parker to get up that high and

2. looking back at last season I believe the biggest problem was the spurs chemistry or lack thereof. Trading Parker would once again create that problem and could spell Doom for the Duncan Era.

Maybe we're going to trade Tony Parker for Aaron Rodgers. I bet he could really quarterback the team.

From what I heard ealier this afternoon (Yes...I'm live in Dallas, but I am a die-hard Spurs fan, and there is radio on the internet) I thought Parker would be going to another team tonight, but when you look at this draft, The Spurs are not going to get equal value for Parker. Hill and Anderson or Temple are not the answer, so Parker is staying unless---we can get a big name like Chris Paul or Deron Williams for Parker. You're right about one thing: Why isn't The Spurs FO or Tim or Manu speaking in behalf of the Spurs that Parker is not going anywhere?
