"There were a lot of teams poking around about him, and some were in the lottery," Nelson said. "Roddy's got a huge summer coming up."

Just thought this would be interested to some Mav fans... and those that enjoy ripping on the Mavs of course. Is anyone surprised by this? Would you offer a lottery pick for him?

EDIT: Caplan just reported on the Mavs and Beaubois too.

Nelson said the phone lines have been busy today with teams asking about the availability of players on the roster, and in particular Roddy Beaubois. Nelson said the young guard isn't going anywhere.

"We've had some unusually attractive offers for Roddy," Nelson said.

But, nothing that would change the Mavs' stance.

"Roddy's not going anywhere," Nelson said.

I want to know just how attractive those offers were, we seriously can't label this kid as "untouchable" if we expect to get a top free agent.

I would, he has shown some potential. 10-14 is what I would offer though, not a top 9 pick.

Dallas would be dumb to trade him.

lol roddy is the only young blood on the roster that already has an average age of 30+

trading him for a potential bust is stupid considering roddy has shown he can ball.

I'm all for a trade that will help ruin the Mavs for years to come. Beaubois is quick and he's one hell of a offensive weapon. I had a chance to see him play, and all I could say to myself: I wish The Spurs would have gotten him.

If only Rick would have played him more in the regular season and the playoffs...

Fuck that stubborn bitch

Mavs would be stupid to trade him for a lottery pick. I think he can come in hand for them if they try to go after a big free agent.

I get the vibe that Dallas should keep him. If we were offered 2-5 though, I'd have to imagine we'd pull the trigger.

The Maverick's front office isn't exactly filled with geniuses.
