Hopefully if it does, it goes to ground in coastal Mexican mountains or deep south Tx where there's little besides some cattle to get wet. Do NOT need this to go screw up the BP situation even more.

Best scenario is that it hits around Port Mansfield as a wet tropical storm and we get some much needed rain out of it.

Looking likely to hit Texas somewhere. Current rough estimate somewhere between Brownsville and Corpus Wednesday/Thursday.

I'm sorry for all the farmers that have corn/milo near the coast ready to harvest that will get ruined but we sure need the rain in Central Texas.

Serious question for Victoria boys...I'm on call when this thing is projected to hit and Victoria is imy region. If this thing hits in some way in the area what are the chances that Victoria gets massive flooding/gets effected? Do you all freak out like San Antonians or do you just deal with it?

I can deal with San Antonio possibly freaking out about flooding but Victoria? Since it's a long holiday for our office (30th-5th) it's all in my hands if there are any problems. I just want to be prepared for any foreseable disasters.

I have been reading that it might get up to a Category 2 hurricane. In 2008, we got hit by Hurricane Dolly, and it was a Category 1 hurricane. Our city was without electricity for 4 days, and some areas went without electricity for a week. No, it wasn't a Katrina, but it did do some damage.

Without electricity does not equal "destroyed." There was plenty of factors of not getting the electricty turned on. Some "weak ass shit" can't be helped.

In the air and now on a train. NHC still has it coming ashore in Northern Mexico, not South Texas. 3 day forcasts are good within a couple hundred miles so its obviously still easily likely to go into the Valley or deep south Texas but I would be pretty surprised to see it near Corpus.

well when you have storms coming in from the gulf, the fish usually follow the currents all the way into the bay. if the currents are strong and the rain isn't too bad, you should have a hell of a fishing trip.

manufan10
06-29-2010, 09:49 AM
One of those aforementioned northward bulges in the upper winds, or ridges aloft, is forecast to become established over the Central Plains this week. Given this ridge is strong enough, it should force Alex's center to bend toward the west-northwest, landfalling somewhere near the Rio Grande Valley.

That said, north and east of the center is where the most severe impact is expected with Alex, so Deep South Texas would still take a hard hit even in a Mexican landfall scenario.

It's not the rain that actually falls in Rockport that is the problem. It's the runoff from the creeks/streams. It's been raining down there all day.
