Junction City High School, of course -- when your town's only got one you needn't overthink it.

Junction City, Arkansas populates roughly 721 people, has one high school and one stoplight. It's small, quaint and if you're not looking for it, you just might pass through without so much as noticing. It's a world away from the big and bright lights of New York City -- home of the 2010 NBA Draft -- and it was exactly where James Anderson wanted to be.

That is, for as long as he could stomach it.

Did you see the Twitter link from Dick Vitale that James Anderson at 20 to the Spurs will be the steal of the draft. If it happens that way the FO is showing why it is the best in the business: George Hill at 28, DeJuan Blair at 37 and Anderson at 20...you might call it a trend.

Three George Hill's would be a trend. However, if Anderson and Blair pan out into good players who help the team win many games, it's not a trend of smarts, but luck.

Really, the way the front office makes it out to be, there really wasn't any thinking involved. Drafting two Players of the Year in their respective conferences where some good basketball is played isn't necessarily a hard thing to do sometimes.

I don't really agree with your premise on luck as an absolute in that situation. There may be be good fortune or luck, if you will, involved but the Spurs put a decent amount of eval into the guys they've scouted and brought in for workouts. There are certain philosopies that successful organizations adhere to when evaluating players and the Spurs are no different. Player development with successful teams is also a bit different than it is with less successful organizations. If you are talking about ping-pong balls in a lottery hopper..or even certain injuries, pure luck...or good fortune, rules the day. Otherwise, there is more to it than just that.

:toast. Luck may play a role, but its mainly hard work. The FO is one of the best in the business not because of luck, but because they put effort and time to evaluate players. TP and Manu were relative unknown, and the spurs wound up with all stars.

Reigning Black is doing a pretty good job. James Anderson's story sounds similar to that of Dez Bryant on the Dallas Cowboys. Both slipped further than they should have and both expect to be great. It sounds like the Spurs might of found themselves a player.
