If they can work out a trade with Houston Rockets then they can get him. His asking price is 3 years and $21 million and the Rockets are willing to pay it.

Step up your game man...
The title should be "Houston Rockets interested in Pekovic"
The article says that the Rockets are interested and this could be done if they have the desire to meet Pekovic's terms.

The article says the Rockets are willing to meet his demands and need to complete a trade to get him (of course Wolves would have to agree).

You don't know Greek and stop pretending that you do.

Doesn't matter. The Rockets don't have the cap room for that kind of deal.

Maybe if Yao opted out of his contract....

I am sure the Rox would be interested for a nice low price, we need a backup center.

But no way in hades would the Rox pay him $7 million a year...never gonna happen.

We can use the Bi annual exception. The $1.8 million exception that can't be used with anything else?

Try again.

Maybe if they got another injury exception for Yao....

I'm not going to say whether we can afford him or not but I just watched a video of him. Damn, this guy is good.

mM7B_r1hHoM

His footwork is very fluid, has a variety of shake and bake moves down low. In the first series in the video he totally takes Big Sofo to school. Very good big man and seems to be very quick. I'd rate him better than Marcin Gortat who Morey pulled out all the stops to get last year.

Of course he is good. He plays in Panathinaikos. The average NBA player cannot even make the rotation of Panathinaikos. Yes he is better than Gortat is.

5m/year, no more.

Not risking franchise future for big white center from Europe.

I thought about this a bit more...ship Anderson and Hayes out and lets give this guy a shot. If this video is indicative of what he can do, he's already way better than either of our post players in Hayes and Anderson. A 6'6" defensive stopper or a 7 foot 3 point shooter...uhh no. He looks like he can play center and back up Yao effectively and play major minutes. He looks like he can bang in the post and as quick as he is, he can also play power foward at the same time Yao is on the court.

It was reported in Europe that the Houston Rocketshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=4462155#) and Minnesota Wolves are working on a trade for Nikola Pekovic. It would most likely be a draft day trade.

Pekovic wants to come to the NBA next season and the Wolves offer of $9 million over 3 years isn't enough money for him so they are discussing a trade with the Rocketshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=4462155#), who would be willing to pay him what he wants, which is the MLE.

Sources: Pekovic's deal worth $13M

The Minnesota Timberwolves reached a verbal agreement on a three-year, $13 million contract with their 2008 second-round pick Nikola Pekovic, two league sources told ESPN.com's Chad Ford.

Pekovic is a big, 6-foot-11 bruising center who has had an impressive career playing in Greece the past two seasons. Pekovic averaged 14.8 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game in 23 minutes per game for Panathinikos in Euroleague play last season.

One league source said that had Pekovic been in this year's draft he would have been a top-10 pick.

"He's one of the most dominant big men in Europe right now and I think he can have an immediate impact in the NBA," said the source.

Pekovic was drafted with the first pick in the second round by the Timberwolves in the 2008 NBA draft. He was widely regarded as a potential first-round pick, but slid in the draft thanks to concerns about his contract situation with Panathinikos. Two years later, it looks like he's finally headed to the NBA.

The Wolves' work this summer isn't done. The team will also work hard in the coming days to re-sign Serbian center Darko Milicic while simultaneously exploring trades for Al Jefferson, according to sources.
