The Cavaliers are in contract negotiations with Byron Scott. He will be the club's next head coach.

Brian Shaw's agent, Jerome Stanley, tells FanHouse that he withdrew his name from consideration this afternoon.

As a Laker fan Thank God,we get to keep Shaw. But interesting to why he withdrew his name. Hmmmmm

Doesn't mean that they also aren't at the same time talking to B-Shaw.

Please tell me this isn't it for Phil. It is going to be a sad day in the nba if it is. With the Celts imploding, I wanted to see him go for that 4th 3-peat.

Why not? Scott sucks, so that means less competition for the Lakers.

samickFanHouse - Shaw & his agent were under the impression the job was theirs, but it appears Cavs were going to string them & Scott along in negotiations.

No. I like Scott as replacement if Phil leaves. I don't like Shaw there with nary experience. Let him go elsewhere, get it, then come back if he's worthy.

WTF Kind of Boston fan roots for a Laker 3-Peat? Is something wrong with you?

Unlike 99.9% of Boston fans, I don't hate the Lakers. I didn't start watching ball until the mid 90's so I missed that rivalry. I don't care if Laker fans hate us or shit on us and are 1 title from tying Boston. I respect and enjoy watching them play. I hate teams like the Cavs,Nuggets, and the Magic. Laker fans don't get to me. Hell if there was any team i'd be ok losing to, LA would be it. Sorry but I just can't hate the Lakers. I have tried to find reasons to despise them and it doesn't work.

Saying all that, I HATE the Yankees and all of the Pats divisonal rivals and other teams (Steelers, Colts to an extent)

Understandable. It's either in your heart, or, it's not. You can't make yourself hate us.

I don't really hate the Spurs. I only bust their chops because it's expected here and Luva pays me to.

He probably didnt wanna sign with Cleveland before July 1st cuz he wouldnt know if Lebron is coming back yet. Who the fuck wants to coach a player like Mo Williams if Lebron isnt there lmao.

I actually thought Shaw would be better than Scott. Phil has been grooming him as his replacement (or so I heard) and Shaw really knows the system, and the players respect him...and Kobe approves.

I don't hate the Lakers either...I have to talk shit, because I'm a Spurs fan. I actually respect the hell out of them...mainly because of Kobe.

'Eh, I'd take Shaw over Scott any time. But I will always love Scott for being such a dumbass with Stephen Jackson, thus netting the Spurs an extra ring in 03.

sounds like Phils coming back?

Scott held out for the LA job in case phil left, so cavs turn to shaw. scott gets word that kfcs coming back and goes back to cleveland.

either way, have fun coachin a team where fuckin mo "godfather theme" williams is your best player.

This shit is too crazy. I wanted to try Shaw even though he is un-proven. Shaw's agent jumped the gun yesterday now Shaw has 'withdrawn'. Just a nice way of saying they want Byron Scott.

Fuck there is going to be a lot of crazy shit going down over the next week.

Byron Scott is highly overrated as a coach. Good luck Cleveland.

sons lol what a bunch of fools they are! Byron Scott is no different than Brown. both won their "coach of the year" awards simply because of their star players.

At least Byron Scott can give his "first ring" speech now

and then stand still for 45 minutes with his arms crossed and tell all the rookies and anyone on the team under the age of 25 to go wash his car.

Just as productive as Mike Brown's spit cup.
