Dirk in New York, not Dallas
July, 1, 2010 Jul 112:39PM ETEmail Print Comments ESPN Dallas’ Jeff Caplan reports:

A second last-minute travel change by Dirk Nowitzki in as many days again caught Dallas Mavericks president Donnie Nelson off-guard and will further delay a meeting that is expected to yield a new contract for the unrestricted free agent.

Expected to arrive in Dallas today, Nowitzki and adviser Holger Geschwindner are now expected Friday, the team announced in an e-mail. Nelson was at the airport on Wednesday, prepared to board a plane bound for Germany until Geschwinder called and told him he and Nowitzki were flying to Dallas.

I wonder when NY is going to realize no one wants to play in that dump of a stadium, with their bipolar overbearing media, incompetent front office and delusional fans?

Why are the Mavs in recruit mode for Dirk?

Because they nonchalantly let Nash walk.

Would it really be a suprise if Dirk doesn't resign in Dallas?

Just saw on twitter - Fish is reporting Dirk has agreed to a 4-year extension.

Not even a max contract? He must not want to be there for his entire career.

I would be suprised if he didn't. IMO he opted out to get a new deal and put some pressure on the Mavs. He just seems to loyal to Dallas to actually leave.

If he goes anywhere besides Dallas, his best bet is Chicago imo.

You cant sign an extension if you don't have a contract in place to begin with. :bang

He is in NY to hunt together with Kidd some big names, what else.

Verbal agreement with Donnie over phone or Skype, they dont need to meet for that.
