So are you getting all this stuff for work or is this for personal use?

Did you update your Twitter about this, and then write an entry on Livejournal? How many posts about it did you make in your facebook status?

the books are for personal use... the screens will be for work.

so far at work their designs consist of spot colors so i have been working with them to branch out and delve into halftones which they should've already been doing. so i'm getting myself a bunch of screens to play with and do my own 4 color, simulated and index processes.

i have no idea why the place i work at has been doing fake halftones with their designs but they look god awful up until yesterday when i introduced them to rip software and separations. haha! you would've thought they'd be at that level by now but nah, we're just now getting there. they're lucky i took a pay cut to work there just because i want to be around the equipment and be able to use it after hours for my own projects.

the owner/investor was pissed at his designer after i showed him what the designs actually look like when they are ran through rip software that makes accurate halftones instead of converting original artwork to bmp and simulating halftones without angles and lpi measurements. things are going good now though but later today and tomorrow i have to reclaim all our screens and burn some others, so i'm looking at like reclaiming 15 and burning 20 new ones. god it's going to take forever!

personally or for work?

personally, i have no designs set in stone but i am looking at doing a 4 color or simulated process tee for a rapper out of houston, a band tee for my brother in DC and another band tee for my friend out in LA. they all are wanting some sort of realistic image in whatever design i come up with.

at work, we are an extreme sports apparel company that is a brand and so i screen whatever designs come my way by the designer. problem is the designer was a hobbyist screenprinter and knew very little about halftones or other processes and so he would simulate halftones, similar to an index process print, and convert everything to bmp and that's a great way at losing detail and not printing a design anything close to how the original looks.

next level is the company that we order our shirts from but i'm not too fond of the quality of them.

Next level? Never heard. Is it specialized apparel or something or just T's and such?

oh hahaha! i read your last question wrong. i thought you meant, "where do you get the shirts you print on from?"

my bad!

airboundapparel.com

i actually asked the owner/investor the other day if i made a design and they picked it up what were the options for me financially... he said, "make it and present it and we'll figure out the rest", so maybe soon there will be a design of my own in there but not for a while because i have too many other freelance jobs to take care of first.

oh, btw, just tshirts for now.

i really have no idea how much those shirts cost... they're good shirts but sometimes i find loose threads but nothing crazy like the shirt falling apart or anything. i think what pisses me off about those shirts is that we'll get a couple boxes in and since we print our own tags we remove theirs and some come off just by pulling them and other you have to actually get scissors and cut them out. i think that's why i don't care for those shirts to tell you the truth. i hate those tags!

Viva Las Espuelas

Well those tags were made strictly for private labeling. I know Anvil were one of the first companies to do that so you may have their product. They're decent quality.
