How do I go about legally selling them in San Antonio? Where can I find out their true worth?

There's a gun shop off of 410 on the access road between Babcock and Fredricksburg. It's in a shopping strip across Fredricksburg from the Jack in the Box there next to Crossroads mall.

At least I think they are still open.

The guys there can tell you just about all you want to know about a particular firearm. Sold my dads Browning 243 to them about 10 years ago, got around $600 if I remember right. I regret selling it though, it was a badass rifle.

Don's Guns. Old guy, support him, give him some business.

However, as DesignatedT said, keep 'em. Don't get rid of guns, especially inherited ones.

No shit. At least look them up first and see if any of them are collectibles.

You can go to gunsamerica and look at what similar guns are selling for just to get an idea of worth.

As far a "legally" selling them there are currently no laws in Texas prohibiting an individual from selling a legal gun to another individual. No paperwork is required.

PM me a list/pictures and I can give you a pretty good idea what they are worth.

The gun stores will only offer about 1/2 what they are worth on an individual sale.

You'll find out their true worth when the Commies come pouring across that thousand mile punchline the federal "government" calls our southern border. Lock and load, boy!

Why would the commies go through the Cartel Wars to get to us when the Northern Border seems more doable and goes along the lines of Red Dawn...

If you have any Winchester Rifle pre 1964, there are buyers with ready cash, ready to pay over market price…And since the rifles were never registered, it’s like the transaction never even happened…

Keep them, but if you must...gunbroker.com would be a good place to start...you can set a reserve & see how much interest you receive...ultimately you will regret selling them though, especially if they were family firearms.

I'm in the market for a cheap handgun for those of you looking to sell. For home defense purposes of course. Shoot me a PM with the guns you're selling and the prices.

Better to have one and not need it than need one and not have it.

Most old guns are just that...old guns. If he bought cheap guns they will not have much value. There are some older quality rifles that have good collector value though...Pre64 Winchester model 70's, Winchester model 91's, Savage Model 99's, Remington 721's etc.

Old shotguns (unless they were really nice European made over/under's) tend to cap out in value because they don't have replaceable chokes like the newer shotguns.

Old pistols it just depends...most don't have a lot of collector value unless they are "Western" style like the Colt single actions, which you pretty much can't touch one for under a grand and some go for 10's of thousands.

original Colt 45 autos have appreciated a bit. Colt Python revolvers have gone up quite a bit too.

Pre64 Winchester model 70's
wouldn't that be nice.

I'm more interested in milsurp stuff. Those were dirt-cheap for quite a while, but some have been going up quite a bit, especially US milsurps.

Yeah, the M1 Garand's in good condition have really gone up. A friend of mine collects Mausers. He's got several hundred.

lucky I bought my Garand cheap back in the 1980s when they imported tons of them.

several hundred mausers, jesus! I've got a couple. My favorite is my M41B Swedish mauser sniper rifle. Great caliber too (6.5 x 55). Got a k98 German one too.

pre-64 winchesters were already high even back when I started collecting guns, so alas, I don't have one.

I've got 2 Winchester model 71's in .348 Winchester and a couple of Savage 99's in .250 Savage. One Remington 721 in .300 H&H magnum. Don't have any model 70's.

Where do you buy ammo for that? Internet?

Bender

6.5 x 55 is still used quite a bit. Some factory ammo makers still make it, and some modern rifles are still chambered for it. That is 6.5 by 55.

The german mausers were 8mm. Ammo is still made I'm pretty sure.

But I handload all my own anyway.

My swedish mauser is dated 1908, and I don't think I should shoot the modern factory ammo in it. Even though it is the same caliber, modern pressures are probably too high for the really old mausers.
