How is this even possible? Do they collectively petition the league to combine the teams? Where would they even play? Also, there is no way all those players fit under the salary cap and I don't think many would accept to play for less money. I just don't see this as viable.

And then imagine if we could install wings on everyone so we could all fly to the arena and then hover around to watch the game together. And we would also get free drink coupons. It would be FUN and so cool!

So, the "Texas Super Team" is basically . . . The Spurs?

That's sick. Blair needs to scratch Haywood himself if that's his thing.

How is this even possible? Do they collectively petition the league to combine the teams?
Basically that's how it works. The Spurs, Mavs and Rockets each need to fill out a TPS report and submit it to the league. The league reviews the TPS reports, but it's basically just a formality. Pretty much as long as you're using the proper cover sheet your TPS report will be approved.
Where would they even play?
The combined team would need to be somewhat centrally located to San Antonio, Dallas and Houston. So there are really only two possible locations for the SuperTexas All Stars to play. Reed Arena in College Station, or the Ferrell Center in Waco.
Also, there is no way all those players fit under the salary cap and I don't think many would accept to play for less money.
Since you're combining 3 teams you also get to combine their collective salary caps. With a $58.044 mil salary cap for mere mortal teams, the SuperTexas All Stars would have a salary cap of $174.132 million.
That's the good news. The bad news is that the three teams would need to agree on how to spend the money. If the STAS existed this offseason, Peter Holt and Les Alexander would have their work cut out for them trying to convince Mark Cuban not to give Brendan Heywood a $40 million dollar a year contract.
I just don't see this as viable.
It's an incredibly complicated process, but it is possible.

Thanks. If that's the case, I hope they play in the Big Golden Boob in Waco.
It does seem complicated. The TPS reports probably kills the whole deal.

I don't think this team would win against the Heat if they can find 3 or 4 ring chasers :depressed
And all of this because of the Gasol trade....
Without this trade and the Lakers dominance, Lebron wouldn't be so scared to find a new team with "only" 1 top 10 player so he have to go where he can find 2.

So who are the new Big 3 in Miami? That shit worked for Boston their first year, and Allen/Garnett/Pierce were already past their prime significantly (at least Allen).

Didn't you hear? Miami.
spurs should sign jefferson to a $16 million contract and start trading. dirk can sign for the min at SA while the spurs acquire scola, ariza, battier, and martin through jefferson + mcdyess's contract. then hairston for beaubois + $20 million in cash will seal the deal.
