It only makes sense if LeBron is not coming. Then it would make a lot of sense.

Miller has been told by Miami that the team is "confident" LeBron is coming. Miller could likely earn more money with New York Knicks.

This is what I don't get, they can't sign LeBron and Miller to this contract.

How is it the Heat clear enough cap space for LeBron AND Miller at somewhere between $5-6M per season?

Dwyane Wade said he and Bosh were not opposed to taking less $$ to get help.

rofl, so 3 maxdeals and 5 mio for Miller? Sure

Why would they extend that offer then. This Goodman guy was the one that reported on the Lakers Miller offer and we all know how that turned out.

It does not add op or make sense.

Probably his agent just trying to posture for more offers.

When NBA guys mean less money they don't mean THAT much. Not at the prime of their careers.

They are probably hedging for "just in case" LeBron does not come.

$1.5 million less from Wade, Bosh, and LeBron = $6mil Mike Miller (Heat have $1.8mil in space)

They still need a PG or a C (unless they plan at putting Wade at point)

it can't be that

because the tweet says the HEAT told Miller that they are confident LeBron is coming to Miami.

So they want Miller either in a Wade-LeBron-Miller lineup, or off the bench sometimes.

And how do you expect to fill the minimum of 12 guaranteed roster spots based on your math?

Do the numbers of players you have under contract + your projected salaries vs. the new cap.

So Miller would come off the bench with Beasley? I guess I will join in on this fun fantasy of Bron leaving Cleveland.

You are looking at a starting 5 of
Chalmers/Wade/Bron/Bosh/Anthony.

Bench:Miller/Beasley.

They need 2-3 backup bigs and a backup pg. They could prob resign Carlos Arroyo and convince Shaq or Kurt Thomas to come back for cheap. That bench may not be amazing but it would certainly suffice. You don't need an amazing bench to win in this league.

you are allowed to go over the salary cap when you need to fill the roster. must be signed to minimum's

You can get by without a good PG (see Lakers) and the made a qualifying offer to Center Joel Anthony.

It sounds like another team trying to quickly sign a player to entice Lebron. Since Miller just played with him at his camp, he would be a good option and a good player.

The only way the Heat can sign him to that offer is if Lebron comes and the MLE is available since there is no cap room (capologist... correct me if I am wrong) left.

Or if Lebron isn't coming and they are just looking to fill roster slots since they have quite a few to fill. With the expiration in place though... I would lean toward the latter.

In any event, it would be another team who wouldn't need a SF (for those of you looking at where RJ will end up at).

The HEAT drafted 2 good young centers

1 of them holds the college record for most blocked shots in history

I forgot they got Pittman and Butler. Verondo isn't too shabby either.

They already have some young depth and this was a deep draft. Basically all you need to do (IF you find a way to get Bron and Miller) is add a vet bigman and a backup pg. You can fill those out using the vets min.

yes, but those minimums are still taken into account (even before being given out) when determining cap space.

Chalmers will be just fine for them at PG, C I agree though is a big hole they need to fill.

MM is a nice piece when healthy. He would have been a major cog in the Wiz' plans had the floor not been pulled out from under that organization by the behavior of Gil and the death of their owner (and of course, MM's injury).

Not sure he is a guy who entices another big name, (not that there are many left sans LeBron). But with Bosh and Wade... Think of Mike Miller as Jeff Hornaseck was to Malone and Stockton in Utah...

this would be a dream for mike miller's sorry ass.
1 Do nothing
2 shoot 3pters without any contact
3 no posting up or attacking the basket => small chance of injury
4 win titles while being paid ok.

No- you can go over the cap with all the minimum contracts you want. They do not count as holds against the cap. The Heat also have no first round draft picks this year with cap holds against the cap either.
