Read the article and you might learn that this type of new prosthetic will help humans as well. The cat was basically a guinnie pig of sorts.

The prosthetic was designed specifically for a cat. The article did say the procedure may benefit human medicine, but there were no specifics given. Basically those people ended up with a $20,000 cat. :rolleyes
