It does make you wonder... A handful of stacked teams and a majority of teams that don't have a prayer. Teams with a chance.

LA
Miami

Teams that can pray

Orlando

Teams that are fucked
rest of league.

Orlando isn't exactly a big market.

It's pretty bad. I means seriously... If you had an infinite cap to pay players, I think Miami would still have a good chance of beating whatever team you put together. I guess you could do...

Kobe
Gasol
Deron W.
Amare
?

shit...

I'm not so sold on Miami yet until I see who they have on their roster as supporting role players. Might take a year or so for Riley to put together a championship roster. When the celtics won in 2008 they had a much better role players.

You're exaggerating obviously.

Without much reflection, something like

Deron/Rondo
Durant/Roy
Artest/J. Smith/Wallace
Dirk/Duncan
Howard

etc would obviously wipe the floor with them given unlimited cap space

Miami is only in the middle of the market size of all the NBA teams.

Scary pattern has developed.

Orlando is a contender and is a small market.

Miami is not a huge market either.

The young up-and-coming teams seem to be OKC, Porty, and Chicago. Two of them are small market.

I think reports of the death of the small market franchises are greatly exaggerated.

Forgot Milwaukee, too.

Miami is only in the middle of the market size of all the NBA teams.

Warm-weather climate
Beaches and nightlife
no state income tax
Heat have a rep as a very professional, first-class organization with Arison and Riley

Maybe it's not about market size, but more about the glamour franchises that eventually are able to sell themselves to FAs (Lakers, Celtics, Bulls, looks like the Heat just joined that exclusive club)

Role players are overrated. All Miami needs is Lebron and Wade. Best 2 man game ever. Bosh makes them unbeatable. They could still win it with Bosh going down. That's how sick they are.

LMAO. Role players are NOT overrated. Maybe you've never heard of guys like Robert Horry, Steve Kerr, Derek Fisher, etc.
