The Mavs are stacked with old Mavs and ex-Suns who are past their prime. I see no way that they can actually improve now. Sure, they might get 55+ wins, but they aren't beating the Lakers and getting to the Finals.
I would not blame Dirk for leaving. I wouldn't blame Chris Paul for leaving the Hornets. Players don't owe teams anything. Management would trade almost anybody if they thought that would give them a better chance at winning. This is a business, and LeBron made a smart business decision.

Fellas, silence is not inactivity. :hat
Dirk has no choice but to stay. We are slowly building a championship team. By straying away from the young unproven guys like Wade, LeBron, and Jefferson, instead we are taking a better approach and loading up our team with veteran savvy players.:king
Our first target was Jermain O'Neal. The veteran savvy he brings to the table would of been something we liked, we didn't get him, but hey it happens.
LeBron was offered straight up for JJ Barea. This is an example of silence not being inactivity. LeBron is a pretty gifted player and he'll be a nice player someday but he doesn't bring Barea's veteran savvy and experience to the table. Our biggest move though, was probably holding on to Dampier. He is gonna be the cornerstone of the franchise for years. A dominant 6th man who's veteran savvy carries throughout the team and down to the D-League
:elephant:elephant
Roddy Beaubois is also ready to emerge as our 13th man. Hopefully we can play him about a minute a week in hopes that maybe someday he can develop the same veteran savvy that will carry us to the title this season:lobt2:

At least Dirk won a game in the Finals. Dirk is and has always been a more humble classy guy than Lebron and a lot of players in the NBA. Tim Duncan is the same way too. I don't know what it is but some of these young players in the NBA are just really cocky selfish classless dicks. It's good that loyalty and class still exist in the NBA. Props to Dirk and Duncan.

People don't get it.
I'm not about to quote Miley Cyrus here, but it's all about the climb to reach the top. That's what makes the end result so sweet. Truly great competitive players relish the challenge.
Lebron made an attempt, I'll give him that, but realized that he's not a truly great competitive players. He's Scottie Pippen 2.0, he wants to be the sidekick to D-Wade and coast his way to titles.

Kobe was frustrated because the FO was not surrounding him with remotely decent talent. Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, Luke Walton...I can go on here. His teams never had a snowball's chance in hell of winning and it did not seem like the FO was legitimately doing everything they could to put a winner around him. He had every right to be upset and want to leave that situation. I didn't like the way he went about it, but he certainly had a valid reason for wanting to leave.
Lebron's teams in the last two seasons have had the best regular season record of any team. Say what you will, but clearly they can't be that bad if they can amass 60+ wins. Furthermore, it was clear the Cavs were doing everything they could to surround James with talent. They went over the cap, and legitimately tried to attract every big name FA they could get to come play with Lebron.
Two totally different situations. Kobe would NEVER walk away from a challenge the way Lebron just did. He may have wanted out of LA at one point, but he would never join a superstar cast to be the #2 option. That's the difference between the two, now please remove Lebron's cock out of your mouth.

Plus, Lebron's heart was never fully in Cleveland. Good luck drawing free agents and/or elite head coaching to Cleveland when free agents and coaches are watching Lebron chillin' with Jay-Z and CC Sabathia while wearing a Yankees cap and creating as much buzz about 2010 free agency as possible. We all know Tom Izzo takes that job if he knew Lebron was there long term. If Lebron showed the commitment Kobe showed, Cleveland woulda been able to get quality free agents like Ron Artest at a discount because it was a guarantee they'd be playing with Lebron. Instead, they had to overpay for whatever free agents they could bring in because said free agents were worried about the risk of life on the Cavs after Lebron.

-Lebron was in Cleveland for a LONG time, and he never said a word about the mediocre supporting casts they gave him..
-The Cavs had plenty of time..PLENTY OF TIME to get him a proper supporting cast..you're blaming 1 off-season for their incompetence during Lebron's entire career there?..
-Kobe's commitment?..throwing your teammates and the organization under the bus is being committed? LOL..please..even if Kobe was committed, which he wasn't, playing in LA is a lot different than playing in Cleveland..

I don't understand how people can love LeBron so much. Both him and Kobe are amazing talents that have their shortcomings with their character. At least Kobe shuts up and put the work to become a winner though. I will respect that any day of the week.
LBJ is disloyal. Running around with his Bulls jersey and Yankees hat and Dallas Cowboy gear when he claims to understand where the Clevelanders come from. BS. But what's the problem with rooting for other teams? He can be a fan of them. Absolutely. But when push came to shove he bolted as fast as he could and he let his hometown hang on the ropes to him until the last seconds.

Someone who has lived in Ohio his entire life has no reason to be cheering for the Yankees. He should be an Indians fan, and associating with an owner of another team is plenty disloyal. Him wearing a Yankees cap as a home grown Ohioan is a slap in the face to people in Ohio.
-Kobe stayed with the team because he had no choice, he was under contract..he demanded a trade and went all over the radio demanding one..if you're going to stick with this anti-Lebron argument, which you're entitled to, at least concede the Kobe argument..
Kobe coulda had a trade if he wanted one. In the end though, he never made a full blown push to get traded and stuck it out with the team he's been on his entire career.

You contradicted yourself when you asked us how do we know LeBron is disloyal (are we World Wide Wes etc.), but then you preceded to say Kobe is disloyal. How would you know?
(If you literally answer that he demanded a trade I'll literally answer that LBJ left Cleveland clueless until 9:01 yesterday and the oh btw he said fu to all of Cleveland on live national television.)
I'll slightly concede on the Kobe being loyal argument, but not completely. Sometimes the ends justify the means and in the end LeBron left and Kobe stayed. Even if it is only by a small margin, Kobe is more loyal than LeBron because he stayed and LBJ left.

]If you don't care about the Knicks, then what difference does it make where he ends up?
I'm a Lebron fan, I live in NY, I would get to watch him play often..I have a lot of friends that are Knicks fans, it would be great for the city to have the best player in the league on the team..
Someone who has lived in Ohio his entire life has no reason to be cheering for the Yankees. He should be an Indians fan, and associating with an owner of another team is plenty disloyal. Him wearing a Yankees cap as a home grown Ohioan is a slap in the face to people in Ohio.
I'm not a Knicks fan, but I absolutely love my city too..a lot of people are like that..I'll give you credit for supporting your own city's teams, but living somewhere doesn't mean you have to cheer for their teams..
Kobe coulda had a trade if he wanted one. In the end though, he never made a full blown push to get traded and stuck it out with the team he's been on his entire career.
How could Kobe have gotten his trade?..
He tried really hard..the reason the trades didn't go through was because he had a no-trade clause and only wanted to go places where he could win, so the Lakers couldn't get any value in return..
Kobe did make a full blown push, do you want me to post links?..
Stephen Jackson, Otis Smith (former player), MJ made a statement that Kobe was better knowing it would be plastered all over youtube. The NBA community in general is disgusted by this decision.
We'll come back to this when more people speak on it, it should be interesting..
