Y'all got any opinons on this? My upgrade is coming for Verizon and i guess this is the one i should be getting.

If you've got an upgrade coming up then, yeah, this is probably the only phone you should be looking at if you want the best android phone that Verizon offers.
I have the Incredible and it's great. The Droid X does everything that the Incredible does with a bigger screen and better camera (HD video). It doesn't have a front facing camera though, which may be a problem for some people. The only difference between the Incredible and the Droid X other than the size is the HTC Sense UI vs. the new MotoBlur UI.
I do, however, love the sleek look of the Droid X. I think it's great and appealing, but some people might not like the hump where the camera is. My dad said it wasn't much of a problem when he played with the phone.
And, another reason is that the Droid X will be getting the 2.2 Android OS update before the Incredible, so that's probably something to think about.
My advice would be to go to a Verizon store and play with the Droid X and see if you like it.
If you think the Droid X is too big, or want a phone similar to an iPhone (size-wise), then the Incredible would probably be your best bet.

Yeah, that's the main purpose, although it's handy at other times. If you don't really want it though, I doubt you'll miss it. The Droid X looks pretty sweet.

Most phones that come out today are like laptops.
Honestly though, after a couple of weeks of messing with it, you'll realize what you use and don't use on the phone, and the novelty/excitement of a new phone will fade away.
But, it doesn't mean it's not worth having a lot of those features.

mine is in the mail today...saw it in the store...awesome looking phone. Stupid Verizon store wouldnt honor my "new every 2" since it was up on july 25th, but phone customer service honored it. I guess CS over the phone has more power then retail store managers.

Heard this phone is great. Until you get frustrated with the Motorola overlay and want to kill them, which is pretty much immediate. Why they think someone with a phone like this needs their stupid Motoblur social networking crap thrown in their face is beyond me. Has Motorola learned nothing about their crappy software after all this time?

Droid X actually self-destructs if you try to mod it (http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2010/07/14/droid-x-actually-self-destructs-if-you-try-to-mod-it/)

I played with it today.
It really is a great phone and the screen is great. But yeah, the Motoblur or whatever the UI is really bogs down the phone. Don't get me wrong it's still great but it just doesn't feel as good as HTC's Sense.
Put it this way: Both UI's have their problems. But, Sense's problems seemingly come out once your accustomed to it, and you can work around it. Getting started with Sense on your phone is a breeze. Motoblur's problems are the first thing you notice and how noticeably less user friendly it is than Sense.
Also doesn't feel as responsive or snappy as the Incredible either.
But, this is being extremely critical of the phone since it still is nice.

Droid 2 will have that.
I doubt it.
Real keyboards are on the way out on cell phones. They will stick around, but you'll see them used in fewer and fewer pocketable devices, IMO.

Heh. It will probably be the last incarnation to have them, then. I think a better method of inputting is on it's way soon, anyway.

me too.
recently went from the touch pro to the liberty choosing form factor over input and my keyboard is sorely missed.
touch screen keyboards are a horrible way to input text imo. the voice to text works pretty well though i hafta say. sucks to hafta go back and add punctuation, spaces, capitalization, etc.. though.

My physical keyboard on my phone sticks every now and then. Sometimes when I push the space bar it does a double space, adds a period and capitalize the next letter. Or sometimes it won't add the space and I type one big long word before I know it because I'm typing so fast.
On the other hand, my touch screen keyboard can work really well some days, and some days it just sucks ass. I know that's my fault in the end, but it can be frustrating.

You don't have to. If you say "comma" or "period" the punctuation is added.

For what it's worth, the screen on my Evo is amazing. It's tempered glass and it's extremely strong. I treated this thing with kit gloves when I first got it, but it's a tank! I hope the Droid X has a similar screen. If it does, you're going to love it.

Probably every major electronic product in history has had some kind of glaring defect.
Remember blowing into the old NES cartridges to clean them because the system wouldn't read the connectors right? :lol

btw, did you buy the evo out right? i am thinking about sticking with sprint, though i don't care much for sprint but there's nothing really better out there, and just buying the evo but damn it's expensive!

i would stick with sprint. verizon and att are all gonna start limiting data packages. at least sprint is unlimited. another thing is if you root the phone its even better. im too much of a coward to do my droid eris but since verizon will start limiting data tethering cant happen anymore

right, CEO's always tell the truth. Why would they skip out on the extra cash? They'll do it eventually and grandfather people in on their old plans just like AT&T did.

Yeah, the bottom quote. He never says that Sprint won't ever cap data usage, just that there aren't any plans to do it at the moment. In fact, he says to never say never.
