View Full Version : Sons, which is the bigger off season addition?

James David Manning

As we know, the Spurs recently signed former Euroleague MVP Tiago Splitter. The Charlotte Bobcats also completed a recent deal where they acquire former developmental league MVP Matt Carroll. Since the Euroleague and the developmental league are similar levels of competition (the two most popular destinations for players not ready for the NBA), which addition do you think improves his respective team more?

My opinion, sons, is that former developmental league MVP Matt Carroll was the better get. He has more experience against domestic competition and is a proven NBA commodity.

How is that relevant son? This is not a race related thread, I understand how one who sympathizes with Nazis might want to turn it into a discrimination orgy, but this was merely a thread polling about which former MVP is a better player?

Both he and Carroll are both former MVPs of the basketball minor leagues. It's anyone's guess as to which one is better.

of course he is good. RC would not interrupt his summer vacation if he wasn't any good.

Chances are he will be an upgrade over Rasho/Oberto at their best. which is good enough for best Center since DRob in the Spurs.

Of course there is a slight chance he could be a bust and eventually sign with the Mavs like Ian Busthinmi.

My guess? He will be as good as Rasho in the defensive end, as good as Oberto at passing, and as good as Zaza Pachulia at the post game.

Splitter is ok. He's not as good as Spurs fans make him out to be though. He's not going to dominate any games. He's just a perfect role player/hustle player.

this has got to be the most ignorant post today... you're never just "ok" especially when your squad wins big in the 2nd best league and you also get mvp. try again!

Take the dev league champion and put them in Euro ball and they would get crushed. Splitter will start. Carroll will be a bench player. Splitter is worth at least 2 amd probably 3 Carrolls. It is not that I am that high on Splitter it is that I do not think that much of Carroll.

Matt Carroll is a better version of Euroleague superstar Trajon "the Alaskan Assassin" Langdon. What an ignorant statement to say he wouldn't start in the Euroleague, god bless your ignorant soul.

What we have here is a failure to communicate. To clarify, I was referring to the NBA. Splitter will be a starter in the NBA, while Carroll will ride the pine.

He's a physical player that almost never takes jump shots, just about all of his points come in the paint :p:

Is starting over the likes of Matt Boner and Antonio Mcdeyess really something to brag about?

At least Matty C backs up the great Rodrigue Beaubois
Matt Carroll 2009-2010 stats
1.8 PPG
0.2 APG
0.5 RPG

Matt Bonner 2009-2010 stats
7.0 PPG
1.0 APG
3.3 RPG

Antonio McDyess 2009-2010 stats
5.8 PPG
1.1 APG
5.9 RPG

And Splitter will start ahead of them...yeah..I think we know the better pickup. Obvious troll is obvious.

Splitter. He could be your starter since day one. He could be as good as Marc Gasol is right now, even if he's not the same player. More athletic, better defender, worse scorer I think, right now.

I've heard so much about Splitter and the Spurs have an amazing track record overseas. I'm excited to see what he can do because he could be Mahimi, but he could be Parker, Ginobili, or Scola as well. Could he play Duncan to Duncan's Robinson? I know the expectations are kind of high if that was my expectation, but it definitely a possibility and where he fits in could determine whether the Spurs are contenders next season. Matt Carroll will shoot some jumpers for the Bobcats so they can (hopefully) make the postseason.
