This 21 yr old Asian American Kid from Harvard is going to be in the NBA next year if not this year. He did pretty good vs John Wall in the Summer League

Yeah, we needed two Jeremy Lin threads.

seems to have more promise than gary neal.
both about same height but this player is a pg with a much better handle of the ball. reminds me of beno udrih.
spurs definitely need a true pg. he seemed to be able to stay in front of wall so his defense may be decent.
i like him. he has the work ethic to stick somewhere. kind of reminds me of hill because he played for a low competitive school yet has proved people wrong that his game wouldn't transition to the NBA. don't know if the spurs is the best destination. they need a veteran third string point guard and already have temple occupying the young developing pg spot.

There was a Lin thread in the Think Tank months ago with links to his DX page and writeup. I was actually surprised that the Spurs didn't go for him as an undrafted FA. He seems like their type of player, really smart tough kid who played best against the highest competition last year.

i am a bit dissapointed in this years sl team. it is like the spurs have lost all creativity in finding diamonds in the rough.
i mean we missed on beaubois, dragic, morrow.
well let's just hope that temple is an excellent pg find.

We didn't "miss" Roddy, we never had a pick that was high enough to get him, and paying as much Tax as the Spurs paid last year, they weren't going to get one. Pop would have mentally destroyed Dragic, because that's what he does with Slovenians. Morrow was a find by GS, one of the few teams that finds damn near as many diamonds in the rough as SA does, something fans here really fail to appreciate. You think that EVERY player we sign or draft should be a rotation player, when in reality, the Spurs have one of the best hit rates in the league over the last 10 years on late firsts and second round picks.

Lin will be nothing more than a luke walton type player...no way he can ball on legitimate nba players like he's doing the scrubs in sl.

Pop's Slovenian policy is to destroy them? So Pop hates Slovenians for some reason now? :lmao

Anderson although no secret is a great draft pick, when you consider we drafted Splitter, Hill, Blair and Anderson in succesion for last 4 years (no pick higher than 20 and who all realistically can be NBA starters) you have to admit that's pretty good scouting for diamonds in the rough.
BTW you're not from the Philippines, are you?

Didn't Tyronn Lue have a "pretty good" game against a much better player on a much bigger stage?
nothing to see here.

Lin is good enough to interest the Lakers, but Mavs have 1st dibs it seems.
http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nba/columns/story?columnist=caplan_jeff&id=5387547
Lin arrived in Las Vegas with NBA executives labeling him as a 'tweener, unsure if he's a point guard or a shooting guard or good enough to play either. But Lin's aggressive drives, combative defense, court savvy and leadership have knocked the socks off those executives -- who now deem him a combo guard -- and turned Lin into a crowd favorite. And now, the skinny point guard out of Palo Alto (Calif.) High School, who could only garner walk-on invites from Pac-10 schools, is about to make his and his family's dreams come true.

i saw that game and freaked out, having no idea who the kid was i thought he looked the least capable out there and wow did he make everyone tune in to him, i know its only one game but he had so many different moves and methods of scoring that it doesnt seem like this is just a fluke, i think this kid has star written all over him. man i would love to have this kid, if parker decides to leave us then i would love for the spurs to acquire such a great prospect

The reason I bring up these 3 players is that nobody knew about them, its not that they lucked out.
Beaubois obviously was picked before any Spurs pick, however my point here is that he wasn't even in the Spurs radar consider the Spurs should have an inside track in evaluating frenchmen.
Dragic was a complete miss. I mean, shouldn't the Spurs have an inside track with Slovenians since we used to have two of them on our team. That comment about being destroyed by Pop is right on. That's the problem with the Spurs, underdeveloped players can be destroyed mentally. I mean, last year the demise of RJ and RMJ may be all mental.
Finally, Morrow. We got con'ed by GSW here. Morrow had the stats to back him up in college. But guess what, they do this con that he signed somewhere in Europe, doesn't show up in any combine or evaluation and gets undrafted.
The Spurs F.O. have always been ahead of the curve in finding good players. Unfortunately, many teams, as they hire Spurs personnel, are becoming much better than this.

Actually, I was thinking another undrafted PG: like Steve Blake, with better D and a bit longer frame.

If you can't handle Pop, you'll never handle playoff pressure. So far, we're 0-2 on Slovenians panning out on the Spurs. They just wilted under the pressure. Same with RJ.

Temple > Lin
overall temple is more versatile.
however lin may be more advance in terms of ball handling and passing skills.
i mean let's get real, we played jaque vauhn for so many years and all he could do well was dribble! lin definely would be a decent backup to temple

The kid is smart has some offense and defense in his game what is not to like? The biggest thing I noticed is that his ball handling skills are much better then Temple or Hill.
One question what about the SF position I mean anyone showing they deserve an invite to our summer camp from other teams?

he's a good defender, but lets see him do it consistently against the most stacked position in the NBA night in night out.
he'll make it somewhere, but not with SA. i'm happy with Temple, who i think is a better prospect, and can fill that 3rd PG role and probably play some SG along with it.

Did you know that Lin's Agent is based in San Antonio?
He played so well, averaging 9.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals in five games, that Dallas now is fending off the Lakers and other teams in an effort to sign Lin to a contract.
Roger Montgomery, Lin's San Antonio-based agent, said he is negotiating with the Mavericks and others. "It's imminent," he said. "We're going to do something rather soon.
"What I'm doing now is reviewing information, looking at rosters and then trying to determine what's going to be the best fit for him. But Dallas is still in the mix."

Jeremy Lin signs two year, minimum deal with Warriors. First year is 3/4 guaranteed and Golden State holds a team option for second year.

The guy has potential.
GSW is one of the better places to show off skills.
With the Spurs you have to be exceptional to get playing time.
