@STEIN_LINE_HQ Just filed to ESPN.com: Matt Barnes and Raptors closing in on two-year deal in $10 million range. Will be completed TUES barring late snag

It's a win for Barnes. He's getting overpaid. Guys like him don't leave money on the table.

WIN for Barnes. Who else except fucking dipshit Colangelo would pay him 9 million for 2 years?

TERRIBLE signing.

Barnes is a hot head and extremely turnover prone. He does more harm than good.

So let me get this straight. Barnes was let go by his last three teams even though he hardly made any money. None of the three teams even contemplated re-signing him. There was not so subtle talk that Barnes was locker room trouble and an epic douchebag.

And Colangelo gives him $4.5 million a season? I don't get how this guy has a job.

Still not as bad as giving the worst defensive player in the NBA a $50 million contract ... but it's close.

Tim,

I think Orlando wanted him back but this is way more money than he was getting offered there.

I would take him instead of Ariza.

:lol give it up timvp, Andrea Bargnani is not by any stretch of the imagination the worst contract on Toronto. Amir Johnson IMO is the worst, and Bargnani for $10 million >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tardbosa for $7 million

Orlando didn't really want him back, according to reports..they've literally made no approaches to even talk to him, according to Barnes himself, at least until a week or 2 ago..

The money could have been an issue, but there's absolutely no way anybody thought Barnes would be getting paid this much..this is just a typical Colangelo move, he's the king of mediocrity..

And regarding Matt Barnes, if two GMs get in a bidding war over you, you want those GM's to be Bryan Colangelo and Otis Smith. Lucky for Matt Barnes, reason #90901490714904 why Bryan Colangelo should thank his lucky stars for the 2004 off season so people don't realize how bad a GM he is.

Seriously...Colangelo has given out a tremendous amount of shit contracts. Turkoglu, Calderon, Amir, Kleiza, and Barnes. Focusing on Bargnani is obsessive, and I'm not a fan of the asshole.

I still remember how excited everybody was after Colangelo's first season:lol..I always criticized him and found him overrated, but at least he helped bring some excitement back to Toronto for that one season:lol..

I haven't minded his trades so much, but his FA signing are just terrible, as resistanze said..

His time is running out though, at least it has to be..he probably has 1 more season, depending on the results, and also depending on whether the Leafs actually show improvement..

His trades in Phoenix were so bad

lol Dan Majerle for Hot Rod Williams
lol Charles Barkley for Sam Cassell and Robert Horry
lol Jason Kidd for Stephen Marbury
lol Steve Nash for Pat Garrity
lol giving away a shit ton of draft picks to have McDyess for 1 season

This is Colangelo's hubris at work - again. The succession of dumb personnel moves this guy has made is astounding. It's no wonder Bosh got the hell outta there.

True Marbury sucked and was worse, I honestly couldn't remember if Hardaway had a long term contract when he traded for him or if he gave it to him sometime after the trade.

And yeah, thank you Isiah. Unfortunately Robert Sarver is the new Isiah being dumb enough to take Hedo Turkoglu's abortion contract :depressed

Suns got a number one draft pick from the Mavs that they used for Shawn Marion. Shortly before they made the trade, Dan Bickley wrote one of his first articles for the AZ Republic stating that the Suns would be smart to trade Nash (who was the 3rd pg behind KJ and Kidd) for a first round pick.

And you cant blame BC for McDyess' departure.

1) The new CBA after the lockout prevented the Suns from showering him with a cash that Denver wouldnt have been able to match.

2) Who the hell picks Denver over Phoenix? We're used to guy taking less money just to play in Phoenix. What the hell is so special about Denver?

Sign and trade. I blame both BC and Ainge for that one.

Although at the time, the Suns were DESPERATE. They had just lost McDyess and had a pretty ugly lockout year. The over-hyped "Backcourt 2000" was a flop.

PHO owed us that one for letting their demon seed run loose in Toronto. I seriously hope he gets hit by a bus. Not to kill him, I just want him Christopher Reeve'd.

I actually believe Turkoglu's booing in Toronto will match or surpass Carter, TBH..

I'm usually in TO for a while in December/January, so I really hope Phoenix comes to Toronto around that time:lol..

They should boo Colangelo. Any franchise that pays Turkoshit $55 million deserves to get played.

Wow I completely forgot they got that Marion pick in the Nash trade. Retarded by me.

Regarding McDyess, do you think it's wise to trade a bunch of draft picks for a player with one year left on his contract a year before there would be a new CBA with a ton of changes? Maybe he wasn't to blame for losing McDyess, but it wasn't a risk worth taking a year before a new CBA.

Well you don't have to be nice about it saying you don't want him killed. I would actually take pleasure in seeing Robert Sarver run out of gas in South Phoenix and get knifed to death, somehow resulting in Arte Moreno buying the Suns.

Here's a better question: How did the Pistons ever lure this guy away from Phoenix when he went back? Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudemire, Joe Johnson, Leandro Barbosa, and Antonio McDyess? That's a sick team. What were they thinking in 2004?

Well they didn't even win 30 games in 2004 and the Pistons won a championship :lol, no surprise why he went to Detroit. I don't think the Suns were expecting to keep the guy.
