Yep. They need to quit with that clean slate shit at the end of every fucking season. The only season that didn't happen was the season 4 finale, and it happens to be the best finale of the series and one of the better ones in recent TV series.

The episode was good, but as a finale it wasn't. Completely underdeveloped and they crammed a bunch in. I don't like this whole buddy-buddy thing with Quinn and Dexter. Could have been kept as a storyline for next season.

Honestly, I think it would have been good if either A) the episode ended with Deb walking in on the two "vigilantes" and seeing Dexter's face and then the episode ending or B) keep the scene that was in the finale, and at the very end of the episode have Deb tell Dexter something like "It was you wasn't it?"

Instead we have everything neatly wrapped up with a bow on top for Dexter and no one else is the wiser. (Sort of, I do realize that Quinn obviously knows Dexter killed Liddy, but still).

I agree! I didn't want neat, I wanted a big old sloppy, hot bloody mess. Dexter is a vigilante killer for Christ's sake!!!
If I wanted fairy tale ending, I would of watched Alice in Fucking Wonderland.
I'm completely dissapointed in the finale!!!:bang

What does that have to do with Dexter?

It should have ended with Quinn finding out the truth about Dexter, but liking what he was doing. Quinn would then move on to another department.

If they really wanted to do it right, they would have pinned Robocop's murder on LaGuerta and let my boy Batista take over the squad.

Very disappointed with this weak finale.

I must be the only one who liked the finale.
No, it was as explosive as we were all hoping, but I think it will move the storyline along nicely come next season. Given that, I'm a-ok with the way it worked out.

What storyline are you talking about exactly? The finale leaves it open to take the show in pretty much any direction they want. They're going to restart with a new guest star playing Dexter's adversary and they'll likely die at the end of the season.

It felt more like a series finale than a season finale. Because it wrapped up everything and set up the characters to have futures with each other. Given that Showtime only renewed the show about a week or two before the finale, it would not surprise me if they wrapped things up just in case they didn't get renewed.

I think Deb may somehow know Dexter is involved. Quinn may have showed her the pics Liddy had. The "aren't you glad it's all over with" line was strange and Dexter's response was puzzled.

I would have loved if the season ended with Deb somehow finding the Lumen dvd at Dexter's place. Would have been a hell of a cliffhanger.
