Until now I've never broken a tear over a movie unless it was tears of joy, i.e. Rudy, Hoosiers, etc.

Of course. Classic movie. Definitely part the modern Australian soul.

Pity Mel Gibson turned into such a pathetic arsehole.

Gallipoli is one of my favorites. I've seen it at least 20 times in my life and I cry every time. In fact I start blubbering as soon they begin playing Albinoni's Adagio in G minor.

I didn't used to until the Spurs signed Andrew Gaze and I found out that Australia is an actual place. I thought it was just one of those things they made up for movies like "555" phone numbers.

I saw it at a theater back when it was new. don't remember anything about it, except for Mel Gibson.

The ending was sad, and tied up nicely with the beginning of the movie but the middle dragged. They could have have cut 20-25 minutes out of that movie easily.

One HUGE problem I had with the movie was the awful 80s electric type music it had in some scenes. What in the hell was that shit?! It made about as much sense as playing classical music in Boyz in the Hood

Oh wow I find the music in that movie is about as perfect a match as there can be.

That piece "Oxygene 2" by Jarre played a pretty significant part in my enjoyment of that film. I think it fits the running scenes perfectly, portraying Archie as frantically looking for "something" big in his life. I also thought, being such a modern piece, it was very symbolic of Archie's future and is very haunting when it is cut short.

And the Albinoni piece is a pretty amazing warning of the impending doom.
