^^ Nice one, JT, I've been having a Cream epiphany for a couple of months now :tu

Clapton's Me and Mr. Johnson is a pretty great blues album.

Is this strictly a blues joint or can jazz fall under this designation?

I say we keep it to Blues. Make a Jazz thread. I'll post in it.

I don't know HOW to put the actual youtube video/song ...inside here...

but if anyone is interested...I have been listening to ...

Bobby Womack--Close to You... from youtube...

every day ....and if THAT ain't blues singing....or blues/soul singing..I don't know what is...

it is a long song and he speaks for the first few minutes...but when he starts singing until the ending...whooo...man it gives me chills...

so if anyone would like to post it for me---hell if anyone just wants to go to youtube and listen to it...I am sure you will be playing it all the time, too

Not a huge fan of Bonnie Raitt's blues, but I do think she holds her own when she teams up with Hooker or BB King, Taj Mahal or even Dr. John.

Does anyone know of any strong female covers of the blues by ladies like Bessie Smith or Ethel Waters?

Definitely more of an electric blues fan than a classic blues guy.
