According to a report from ESPN's Outside the Lines, a vendor inspection report was done among NBA teams and the AT&T Center, home of the San Antonio Spurs, scored among the worst in the NBA when it comes to food violations.

AT&T Center
San Antonio Spurs
Vendors with critical violations: 48%
Inspection report excerpt: Inspectors found 18 pounds of hot dogs that had expired more than 10 days prior.

Granted this is bad but it could be worse. The Denver Nuggets had violations for phorid flies, sometimes called coffin flies, in a bottle of cognac.

So the next time you are at a Spurs game, you want to rethink buying that hot dog.

Wonderful, I had a pizza there at the Silver Stars game about a week ago. Fuck me hard, this is karma for eating a pizza as an exercise and sports science major...

Those hotdogs are for the" dollar day hotdog" games.. Good thing the only thing I bought there are the 5 dollar water bottles which sell for 88 cents at Valero. :hat

Those coffin flies are extremely difficult to keep out of bar bottles. I've seen them get under snow cone cups and saran wrap. They like cognac, scotch and bourbon.

Pretty much every sports stadium everywhere had food safety issues.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/post/Vendors-at-professional-sports-venues-are-dirtie?urn=top-258254

'Staples Center (Los Angeles) — One stand dumped 9.5 pounds of sushi after inspectors found that it had become too warm.

One could argue that if you're ordering sushi at a basketball game, you're playing with fire, but it’s reasonable for fans to expect that whatever food they're ordering at a game is safe and properly handled. '

I don't know about that. Michael Jackson was known to eat 2 year old wieners from time to time.

Yikes. That was supposed to say "12 year old wieners".

I'm not trying to justify anything but a punchline. But it is a better from that standpoint.

No, I don't. I can't start threads, edit posts, or perform other basic functions that Kori doesn't think I'm repsponsible enough to do.

Well it's decidedly not funny to me. I mean if I want to put in my 2 cents on a topic, I have to wait around until someone else brings it up. Thank God someone mentioned the deal with the headbands today.

Yeah a Michael Jackson joke was really necessary. You're proving your worth with every post.

I dunno. I'm typically not a fan of cantthinkofanything's ANYTHING, but the fly joke, the MJ joke, and his inability to do MUCH of "anything" had me rollin in this thread.

72% of the vendors at jerry world were cited. 8.00 for a hot dog that is not at the right temp. very nice.

Who eats freakin hotdogs anyway? Do you know what is in them?

I find it bitterly ironic that people are worried about food code violations but not the horrendously poor nutritional value of the food that is served (which contributes to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc), nor about the fact that it is all presented in "disposable" packaging with absolutely no thought to recycling. The world is fucking insane.

Stupid. When someone goes to a game and gets a hot dog, it doesn't indicate much about their diet for the other 99.99% of the time. In fact, the majority of people that eat hot dogs as part of their regular diet probably don't go to many Spurs games.

"Bitterly Ironic"????? WTF.

As long as the beer is cold, fresh, and $15 it's cool.

I saw the ESPN report about this and all the stadiums. The hidden camera video at Tropicana Field was nasty - rotting meat, raw meat dripping on cooked meat that was being served, etc.

Can't be worse than Hemisfair Arena. They had this nasty-ass pizza there that would make me puke half the time I ate it when I was a kid. The burgers weren't any better, so I eventually learned to never eat anything at games.

I wish I had seen this thread before we went to Fiesta Texas this past weekend.

It would explain some things about the burgers we got.

Saw it too Kori... the story the guy told about the guy cutting himself and bleeding into the soup, then just wanting to scoop the blood out was disgusting.

I personally wouldn't eat or drink anything on the plaza or balconey levels. Get your beer from a guy that's walking around.

I was sitting down to dinnner when they aired that segment and I almost immediately lost my appetite. I had to change the channel and watch something like Criminal Minds just to numb the disgusting feeling I had. I've never had a problem @ Staples with any questionable food, but I tend to stick with nachos and pizza there (It is one of the few places that I spoil myself and violate my caloric intake). However, I did get a moldy bun with a hot dog @ Chavez Ravine aka Dodger Stadium. It was most certainly a shock and grossed me out that I rarely buy anything worthwhile at Dodger Stadium.
