Among the team mates he is now affectionately called Papa-All. Guilt of irreproachable years he made in his farewell to the Spanish basketball, winning the national title and being named the MVP of the regular season and finals. The pats on the back and praise, however, do not do Tiago Splitter feet off the ground. During his first practice with the group, on Tuesday, the wing-pivot of the San Antonio Spurs made it clear that the timing is favorable, but knows he will have to work even harder to keep on top.

And for now, will have to devote even more than the other commanded the coach Ruben Magnano to recover the time lost due to delay in its presentation. The transfer from Spain to the United States, problems with the release of insurance and marriage Splitter did miss the first week of preparation for the finals in Turkey.

- I think this delay will not mess up because everyone here know each other long ago. Perhaps what can happen is I will not be with them the same fitness, but I will do everything to recover it. I present myself the same, as in all other years, but of course with fellow congratulating. But we are in the selection and we have to remember that. Here are all the same - said the player, who only regrets having made four decisions and was unable to lift the Euroleague trophy.

Splitter's speech follows the line of thought Magnano, in the words that guide the work are equality and fight.

- I'm happy with everything that happened last month. It is an important phase in my life. I'm taking a leap to the NBA, and the selection is in great time, with an exceptional cast, a technical victory. We have everything to make success in the World. I hope to come more moments like that. I'm riding high personal things worked, but I know it is difficult to continue being successful. I will keep working for it.

Nene seems to have no doubts that. For eight years working in the American professional league, he believes that Splitter will adapt quickly to the next phase of his career.

- He is a tremendous rise. Papou almost all in Europe. Now going to a team that even a little envy. You do not have words to speak to the players and the coach of San Antonio (Gregg Popovich). It will take little time to mingle and get used - he said.

Yes, and after the priests made that long trip, it was rumored that when they got off the boat, they asked the question "Tupi or not tupi?". And they all voted "Tupi".

Close. Actually there were many dialects for the inhabitants, but the dialects were similar. The priests using Latin as a base format basically created a language that allowed everyone to understand one another.

I had the opportunity to interview Splitter again this week. As always, a player of few words (he never feels much comfortable with the press).

All Brazilian players are really impressed with the trainings of Ruben Magnano. They think they are even tougher than those of Moncho Monsalve (already known to be a hard coach).

Very nice interview by Tiago on ESPN here in Brazil.
He doesn't think about start or getting a lot of minutes. He just want to learn the system ASAP and help the team win.
Said Pop and R.C were very nice to him. He was prepared to fly to San Antonio to sign the contract. He'd take the plane in Cancun via Houston and then San Antonio and R.C told him they would send a private jet to pick him there. Said he really liked how Pop approached and explained what he wants. The only player he talked so far is Manu, who called him in the day he signed to congratulate and told Tiago he was there to help in anything
It'll be great to play with TD, a player he always admired
He said Alex told him to have dinner with coach Pop because he always pay dinners to the players.

Watching this video, it looks like he's got that quick jumphook using his left and right mastered. I know it's not the pretiest hook, but i think it will be highly effective in the NBA. It captilizes on the defense not being set. much like TP's tear drops in the paint. So guys don't be surprise if Tiago get's heaps of his points using the shot. but don't expect him to get if off , ala Tim duncan , against set defenses one on one, he's going to get them more through roles and cuts to the basket. unortodox but I think the defense won't know how to handle it, much like Manu's euro step.

Tiago Splitter leaves the court with left thigh injury and is concerned

Pivot team felt a contraction at the site and if injury is severe it can get out of the Super Four Tournament

BRASILIA - The pivot Tiago Splitter, recently hired by the San Antonio Spurs NBA, left the game Saturday (7 days) with pain in the thigh. At first, the problem does not seem serious, but he will undergo further examination in the afternoon to check the severity of the problem.

At conference after the match, the Argentine coach Ruben Magnano declined to talk about the situation of the player without prior knowledge. "He will do an MRI," Magnano said. "I hope it's nothing. The doctor (Carlos Vicente Andreoli) will evaluate it, I can not talk about it. "

Immediately after the confrontation, Andreoli issued a statement explaining the condition of Tiago Splitter, without, however, give many details. It said: "The James presented a contraction in the thigh and was medicated. We will do an MRI this afternoon to assess better the picture. "

Splitter 6-6 from the FT line so far

so far most of the 4th quarter Splitter was guarding one of the Ivory Coast players around the 3 point line (if he can do that against Dirk, would be of great help)

Brazil wins 95 to 54; Splitter had 14 pts, 3 boards in 23 minutes; (I'm guessing his lack of rebounding is because he plays more on the perimeter on defense)

The Brazilian team is loaded with talent, most notably Leandro Barbosa, but Tiago Splitter is the team's true rising star. The 6-foot-11 center was named the Spanish League MVP in 2010 and will play for the San Antonio Spurs this season. With Brazilian center Nene expected to miss the tournament, Splitter will be called upon heavily, and he could have a breakout performance.

Decent game from Splitter. The Spurs O will be very different from that running around like crazy Brazilian style. Good thing Splitter he is such a good passer, that and his mobillty and finesse post game is what makes him a special big man i think.

Great, great game by Splitter against France. He ate Traore tonight (most of Traore numbers came against while Splitter was in the bench, while most of Splitter basket were facing Traore directly).

Looks like he´s already in shape... :downspin:

He didn't board well, but 7/9 FG is crazy efficient. And does anyone know what BP stands for?

Who would you compare Traore with in the NBA?

Lawlz, was I the only one who looked thru the top 12 players to watch list and saw Javtokas at #9? If anyone saw him when Lithuania played USA, how'd he look? It's annoying that he never came over, the Spurs kicked Theo AND Ian to the curb in the same 5-7 months, but Bonner gets a slight 4 and four more years. Pop needs to go cold turkey with the wine man.:shootme

I've never really followed Big Baby, I'll just take that as a good thing.

Watching Tiago now, he's got nice activity and aggression on the offensive end. Sets a lot of picks and screens, then cuts to the basket strong and seems to be a good catch. Also, he's drawn fouls on like 3 of the past 4 offensive possessions on this replay.

Excited to see what this guy can bring to the table finally.

Too much smoking but he is a great TV color guy: funny and great analysis. He is the french version of JVG.

And it was a nice game by Splitter even if he played mainly against Ali "Mandrake" Traoré who is a weak defensive player. The game against Australia, that has a great bigmen rotation, is way more telling about what Splitter can do at a NBA level.

The game against Australia was his first after almost 20 days injuried. Not a good game to evaluate.

Btw, international basketball wont give all answers about how Splitter´s game will be translated to NBA style.

Splitter is a proven star playing international basket. He already played great games against Howard, Yao Ming and several others big men in FIBA matchups.

The NBA style is totally different. If not, guys like Barbosa and Nenê would be studs while playing against the biggest international forces, what isnt the case. A guy like Rondo would never be cut from USA Team...
