When I compare 2010 stats Shaq beats out Matt Bonner all around, so does this mean that Shaq could be a better short term investment at a low price than Matt Bonner, long term worth.

Shaq is both an asset and liability. You have to deal with his 50% free throw shooting if you bring him on and you can bet other teams in the playoffs will employ hack-a-Shaq. His entire games centers on power and he's slowing down but still big enough to put the ball in the hole and clog up the lane defensively.

On the court, yeah of course.

Does Shaq spread the floor? I don't think so... He must have been so lucky to win those rings.

You get about 7 good quotes from Shaq every year, so that alone makes him better than Matt Bonner.

Why not both? Bonner makes the sandwiches, and Shaq eats them.

Shaquille is still the strongest guy in the NBA…

7 good quotes + 7 good sandwiches = championship. :lobt2:

It's a stupid question for the following reasons:

1) Bonner is already signed so it's not a choice between the two.

2) They are very different players so they are not comparable.

If the Spurs are considering signing Shaq, it will have little to do with the presence of Bonner.

He certainly shoots a higher FG%

Bonner was forced to play a big because the Spurs had nobody else.

Blair was a rookie and McDyess is all about SPAM.

Splitter changes all that.

Bonner will be a wingman and yes, I would love for Shaq to come on board and be one of the distributors. Shaq will lose weight as a Spur and I'd bet he could get in at least 2006 shape.

Shaq is still better than a lot of centers. His attitude is what is keeping him out of the league. You don't hear Mcdyess demanding a starting role. Shaq has burned a lot of bridges over the years and those that haven't had a relationship are scared off from his well known reputation.

If shaq joins the spurs, he will get more minutes than Bonner, and he will come of the bench before him.

Don't you think Shaq and Duncan would be redundant at this point? Well unless Duncan is willing to extend his range because Shaq's going to clog up the lane. They're both useless but at least Bonner can provide spot up shooting for the Spurs.

Is Bonner at $3m for 4 years >> Bogans at vet. min for 1 year? Pretty close if you ask me. And if Bogans is backing up RJ at SF and not taking playing time away from the young players unlike Bonner taking time from Splitter and Blair, I'd prefer Bogans. Besides there's Duncan, Splitter, Dice and Blair deserving of time ahead of Bonner. There's only RJ ahead of Bogans and if RJ gets injured ....

I was responding at is bonner better than another nba player ? My answer was bonner is better than bogans and mason for instance.

Now if you want to ponderate that with their salaries then I could agree bogans for free is better than a 3 M$ bonner.

Spurs would be foolish not to sign Snaq...Timmy and Snaq could form a formidable front line against LA...or even Denver I'd hate to see Shaq go to the Nuggets...

Who would you rather have on the spurs?

Thunder should get shaq. I am surprised that they have not shown any interest.

This. Would much rather have Bogans than Bonner under the terms you described. No way Bonner gets a cent more than the vet min from anyone else if we didn't resign him.
