There are rumors that the Bulls could trade Taj Gibson to the Trail Blazers for Rudy Fernandez.
"From what I've heard it's in Portland's hands now for what they want" writes Sam Smith for Bulls.com. "I've heard the Bulls have a pretty good shot, but nothing matters until it's done." Rudy would be a nice fit in Chicago's second unit, where he could get the larger role he has been pining for.

I'd only do this trade if I'm the Bulls if they can sign Shaq to a 2 year deal, losing Taj would make the Bulls a smaller team but Rudy can score and would give the Bulls more scoring power. Shaq's game may be declining but he'd give the Bulls a post presence they have been lacking for quite awhile now.

wtf is wrong with you all?

Taj Gibson sucks...
He is skinny, short (6"8")... and last off he plays PF and sometimes C.

From the Bulls game I watched, he routinely got bullied time after time.

Why the fuck would the Blazers want this guy if they have 3 maybe four bugs that are way more NBA legit than Gibson is.

huh? gibson had a great rookie year. 9pts, 7.5 reb, 1.2blks, 50% shooting. he's the perfect backup to boozer. he blocks shots, rebounds, and scores. also was pac 10 defensive player of the year in college. his shot blocking definitely translated into the NBA. his rebounding actually got even better.

he's going to be a double-double machine off the bench. the bulls would be stupid to trade him for just rudy fernandez. a big rotation of noah, boozer, and gibson would suck in all the rebounds.

If choosing between Wilson Chandler and Gibson, I'll take the latter, tbh.

Bulls would be stupid to do that.

oh and lol at the spurs fans saying he is scrub, I'd love to see him play for the spurs.

He is a hard worker, he is not a spectacular player but he is disciplined, rebounds well, blocks shots, he is young and can improve...

Taj Gibson will be a good player in the league. He showed alot of promise last year when Noah was out with injuries. He could average a double-double for many years. Probably won't be a 20-10 guy uinless he is traded to a bad team, but a solid double-double threat each year.

Scored 20 or more points 4 times last year, and had 25 games of 10 rebs or more. In comparison, Dejuan Blair had 16 games of 10+ rebounds and 3 games of 20pts or more. In fairness, Taj averaged 9 more minutes per game than Blair.

Still Taj is a good player and a better shot blocker/defender than Blair.

When they signed Wes Matthews, it already spelled Rudy's fate.

Obviously, Rudy has more potential than Taj Gibson, but the Blazers already made their decision to move on from Rudy so his trade value probably dropped a bit. Might as well get a competent back-up PF in return, especially considering the injury potential to their front court based on the last few seasons. I think it would be a decent deal for the Blazers to make even though it probably doesn't look like good value for Rudy.

Makes sense for both sides. Portland should try to land a 2nd rounder with it also

We don't want Rudy. I liked Taj Gibson, he's showed potential.

I would do the deal, but I don't think Chicago will. The Bulls don't have enough bigs. I think we'll play it cool and look for Rudy to have a big tournament at the World Championships. If he does (and I think he will), his stock will go up.

You can never have too many bigs.

For which side?

For the Bulls. They have depth upfront right now. They have enough mediocre guards to start a team by itself. What do they need with Fernandez?

taj is solid. rudy doesn't even want to play in the US.

i don't see how any portland fan turns this down..
