Being an avid oldies music lover, I personally can't get enough of anything predating pre-80's. Especially groovy and funky tunes that were spawned during the 50's-late 70's....

Now the question is...

Who is your favorite oldies band/singer?

And list a track that corresponds to the band/singer.

I'll start,

The Four Tops-Reach Out I'll Be There..................

God what a song. :toast

This is the music that I grew up on. Sinatra was much later (15-17) but the Beach Boys and Temptations and Righteous Brothers--these are the songs of my childhood. These are some of the first songs I learned to sing. I grew up in the late 80s and early 90s so the Oldies station was always playing stuff from the 50s and especially the 60s, with a special interest in MoTown music since it was cool to like that era. I remember seeing exhibits at the Henry Ford Museum, for instance. The movies of that era--Sister Act, My Girl, Father of the Bride, Corina, Corina, Forrest Gump, The Man Without A Face, Apollo 13--they all featured songs from that era so it seemed as natural to me for it to be on the radio as it would have been in 1965.

^^It's a bummer that the buffoon, George Lopez, has attached himself to it

I may be in the minority, but I like Gladys' version better than Marvin's.

As far as I'm concerned, one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.

I wish music was still like this today...it makes no sense that a performer should be labelled as "gay" for making beautiful music such as this, but sadly that's the case nowadays. Everything has to either be "hard", or a gimmicky shitty pop song to be successful.

Sometimes when I'm alone in the truck I will go full retro and load up on some old Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. Kind of a fusion of country, jazz, blues, and big band.

Heres a good clip...

Do people really consider 70s rock Oldies music? I always thought Oldies referred to shit from like the 50s up until the Beatles.

"Always and Forever," by Heatwave -- written by the great Rod Temperton, who went on to write some of Michael Jackson's biggest hits (including "Thriller," and "Rock With You")
