Word.

Legalize.

At the very least for the revenue stream. And wrecking the business model of the drug cartels would be a definite bonus. They'll adapt, but so what?

Make em adapt.

And it needs to be taxed like a fifth of hard liquor or a case of cigarettes (which is just another smoking leaf), and not where a joint costs $50 or $25.

The legalization should bring the price way down since it's legalization that drives the price so "high". Too much tax will justify a black market.

I'm for decriminalization....it should be a misdemeanor for up to about 2 ounces, like a traffic fine and maybe some drug counseling..... then differed adjudication where the charges are swept away as long as you are not busted again in 6 months...after that you get fined more and more and if you don't pay those fines or keep getting busted, then jail time...jail time should be the very last resort...

Minors busted with any would be put into drug and family counseling immediately, there is no better sign of future trouble, and on home monitors...unless its evident its happening at home...then the child is put into a safe home where they are closely monitored for up to a year...depending on the circumstances...

If alcohol possession was treated like pot possession, heroin would be legal.
