James Toney was stripped of the World Boxing Association heavyweight title late Monday night, less than a week after the New York State Athletic Commission suspended him for testing positive for a steroid after he beat John Ruiz on April 30.

Ruiz was reinstated as the champion, and Toney is barred from fighting for the organization's title for two years. But he will continue to pursue the titles of other sanctioning organizations, said his promoter, Dan Goossen.

The W.B.A.'s ruling was released by the Ruiz camp, which said it received it in a fax of a letter to Toney from the sanctioning organization. Goossen and Toney's co-manager, Keith Davidson, said they had not received notification of the decision.

Goossen said that Toney would not appeal the W.B.A.'s or the New York commission's rulings, and that he would seek Vitali Klitschko's World Boxing Council title or Lamon Brewster's World Boxing Organization belt.

Heavyweight Boxing has really sunk to an all time low of lows, this pathetic incident just tells everything. The Heavyweight class is such a disgrace and its so sad its not even worth watching anymore at all.

I know that sucks. I love watching boxing but have unfortunately begun to lose interest for it.
