How do you guys feel about excuse-making in pro sports?..

Do you think it's valid if the person has a legit reason?..do you think it's stupid, even with a legit reason?..does it annoy you?..does it not bother you?..should athletes just admit they struggled at certain times, instead of blaming something else?..

There aren't many examples of big-time players making excuses, but hypothetically speaking..

Still a human being and while they should kick themselves for missing opportunities in wins or decisions made, they should always be given the same respect that every human being gets--to err is to be human.

It really depends on the excuse/reason and the circumstance. Give us an example harlem

It depends. For example in motorsport every driver has an excuse and its part of the culture.

When it comes to basketball, it can get pretty annoying and stupid but most of these guys aren't god damn saints anyway so I suppose it can be expected at times. Doesn't include just players either - Phil Jackson's usual gamesmanship seems like tired trolling to the point where even the commish had enough and then there's always the quotable Mark Cuban. Most of the time the sportsmanship level seems professional though.

players making excuses bothers me somewhat I know they will all make excuses at times though, but in the end all their excuses really don't matter even when they make them.

Making excuses is part of everyday life, certainly part of professional sports when it comes to losing. Pro athletes love to make excuses when things don't got their way.

The Pistons team prior to the last couple season was notorious for that, particularly Chauncey Billups, king of excuse making. It's annoying but at the same time, it happens so you just start to pay it no mind.

It doesn't change anything. Even when it's a legit reason like dirty officiating, it doesn't change the outcome. Sorry Sacramento. You just should tune it out because a lot of, perhaps even most, losers will find an excuse. Losers find excuses. Winners find a way to win.

It bothers me more that people confuse someone trying to absolve themselves of responsibility, with someone trying to find a cause and effect relationship to help prevent further shortfalls...

You can also 'not have any excuses' by always 'getting it done' at the expense of your honor, integrity, and self respect. It is known as cheating. It often works, and prevents things like 'excuses' from coming up in the 1st place...
