Seems like we'll be saying a lot of this throughout the season, especially since Ferguson's attacking B team seems to be Berbatov and Chicharito together. There's sooooo many occasions where Chicharo feeds Berbatov for a 1-2 and Berba decides to take the bad shot instead of pass back. Ever since he arrived at Man U he's had something to prove and he tries WAY too hard

I'm a HUGE Man Utd fan but DEFINITELY not for Ronaldo...
I was actually glad when he left for a couple reasons....
1. he was a selfish player who rarely would play any defense
2. it gets rid of all the "fake fans" who cheer for United because of pretty boy Ronaldo

EPL is the best league in the world by far. Most of the games are entertaining, fast paced, direct football with teams going back and forward. Plus the refereeing is great usually without many whistles and dead times, and players almost don't even dare do dive there because they know the refs don't call that.

It cracks me up when some claim Spanish league as the best one. It produces some entertaining matches but the competition is really low with only 2 teams with a legit chance to fight for the tittle, plus watching Barcelona dominate every match with 70 % possession gets boring after a while if your a neutral fan.

Serie A is not even close right now.

Liverpool is going downhill right now, and Arsenal has been kinda the same team (flashy, with great young talent but never a real threat for the big boys) for almost a decade now.

And Man City won't win anything untill they fire Mancini, he has the talent to put a better more dangerous team on the pitch but he prefers to throw Tevez (a guy that isn't even a center forward, he's more of a second forward) all alone up front and leave guys like Adebayor on the bench.

Arsenal has basically turned into a glorified farm team. They churn out good young talent that eventually gets sold off.

You can't expect too much, since success in top flight leagues basically depends on your spending power. Arsenal spent a shitload of money on the stadium and haven't made a big signing in years.

velik_m

Oh, they have one, unfortunately he spends at least as much time at the doctor's as he does on the pitch.
Arshavin is a good striker as well, Chamakh definitely has the potential to be one.

I agree about the GK, though. Almunia is decent but not great - and he has a tendency of screwing up a little too often. This position has been a problem since Lehmann started living in this fantasy world of his a couple of years ago. And I haven't seen anything from Fabianski or Mannone that indicates they could soon be ready to replace Almunia.

1) Chamakh did go down easily, but there definitely was contact and I think it was enough to warrant a penalty (I wouldn't have screamed bloody murder if there hadn't been a whistle, though).

2) Horrible challenge by Wilshere. I don't think he wanted to harm Zigic, it was just a stupid and terribly mistimed challenge. He fully deserved the red card, of course (he admitted that much himself).

Apart from that, it was a very uninspired and unconvincing performance by Arsenal. I was kind of waiting for a late equalizer on a header after a corner or a free kick. Good thing they got the points, but it was one of the worst games I've seen them play in a while.

It was about the conversation with another poster (forget who) about the possibility of Arsenal and Barcelona playing again in the Champions League. As Arsenal has had some good wins this season and were atop of the premier league, that alone made me consider perhaps Barcelona wouldn't be thrilled about playing Arsenal either, compared Arsenal's reaction in drawing Barcelona had they/if they.

I hadn't watched Arsenal play until this point. What's so wrong about this particular case? Not like I'm trolling about anything, I'm barely a Barca fan and not really invested on that team's success...

Pretty impressive performance overall (minus the usual goal, conceded on a high ball after a set piece once again). This team is so much better with Cesc, even though he is not at 100% yet. Chelsea was pretty poor, though. Maybe the Gunners can go on a nice little run now. Come March, they won't have to play CL any longer, so they can focus even more on the Premiership.

Meh, I don't get why everybody is so upset about those changes. Chamakh, Arshavin and Squillaci are usually part of the starting 11, so they more or less just returned yesterday. Bendtner and Denilson have been starting quite a couple of games as well. The only changes that brought in players who usually don't play that much were Rosicky and Eboue (who also was playing on the "wrong" side). Diaby was coming back from an injury and needed some match practice.
Arsenal had more than enough quality on the pitch to protect a lead against ten men, but the sad thing is that Arsenal are abysmally poor at playing with a one-goal lead (pretty much regardless of who is playing). You should be able to do that if you want to lift the trophy at the end of the season, though.

bendtner is not good enough to start for a title contending team. Denilson should never start in place of Song except maybe in domestic cup games. Chamakh only had a regular start because Van Persie was injured. It's unfortunate Fabregas couldn't play because of suspension. Even if Wenger wins, the changes are still questionable. That's why it's so tough to support Arsenal....why not build momentum with the win over Chelsea with the same core of players? Then Wenger goes on guaranteeing Arsenal will win the title...what a guy

Ronaldo roars back at Balotelli

Cristiano Ronaldo has told outspoken Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli to talk less and concentrate on his football.

Italian international Balotelli has been at the centre of a number of controversies since joining City from Inter Milan last summer and recently made headlines by taking a swipe at Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.

But Real Madrid star Ronaldo, who made his name at United alongside Rooney, hit back in Gazzetta dello Sport: "Balotelli? He's a good player but he must talk less and think about playing more.

"In the Premier League, if he knows how to listen and wants to learn, he could become a great player. I hope he achieves that. However, today he puts many other things ahead of his career and this is not good."

Balotelli, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, is set to go head to head with Rooney in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on February 12.

"He [Wayne Rooney] is a very good player but not the best in Manchester," Balotelli said on Tuesday. "Our attack of Balotelli-Tevez-Dzeko is the best in the world - better even than Barcelona and Real Madrid. We are the strongest and we can win things now - we just lack conviction."

The City striker also delivered his verdict on his former coach at Inter, Jose Mourinho, and said current boss Roberto Mancini would soon be regarded a better manager.

"Mourinho is the best coach in the world but as a man he has a lot to learn about politeness and respect," he said. "[Mancini is] the most important coach I've had. Soon he'll be the best in the world. As a man he's 10km ahead of Mourinho."

Villa mids are getting abused. Bradley will be starting soon enough.

It was just a matter of time for Arsenal. Van Persie 2-1

That was Koscielny, but the corner came from van Persie. Tough game for Arsenal. In the first half, Fellaini was owning Arsenal's midfield all on his own. They got better in the second half, though. I'm glad Arshavin got the goal; it seems like forever since he actually did something useful on the pitch.
By the way, how Saha's goal in the first half is not waived off I'll never know.
