He shook Rondo out of his shoes.

Rondo killed him in the 1st half. Blew by him each time they faced each other. He's starting the 2nd half on the bench.

He's still a couple of years away from being able to contribute at the NBA level.

He should keep working and continue to grow his game on the defensive end. The Spurs will give him a shot if he can improve defensively.

Dude has great ball handling skills, can pop a pull up 3, make the pass, finish at the bucket. I am very excited about de Colo. I hope there is no bull shit when it's time to bring him over. I think his most recent contract is for 2 years.

Yes, but out there in the ether somewhere, he will always be throwing ally-oops to Ian Mahinmi in Spurs' draft pick heaven (as Chris Carawell cheers them from the bench).

Nando clearly showed his lack of athleticism to play in the NBA.

OTOH, I've liked a lot Bokolo in this game.

De Colo definitely showed he could handle the ball and has good point guard skills but his questionable defense and overall lack of athleticism was pretty obvious.

There's no question; he can't play defense.

Hes definitely not used to guarding guys with the speed or quickness of Rondo. We wont see him for a couple more years if ever.

If guys like Steve Blake can carve a niche in the NBA there is hope for Nando. Now, that is usually the exception and not the norm, so he seems to have an up hill battle.

Mahinmi also played and, as usual, sucked donkey balls.

I think it is clear the Spurs coaches and FO were right all along to keep him on the bench most of last season. He has incredible physical ability but just has no feel for the game whatsoever.

This should be a lesson to all the haters on Pop and the FO about why they don't play certain players. Pop and RC know what they're doing 99.5% of the time.

The .5% was Louis Scola..lol

But I agree Ian sucked and so did Hairston so I am glad both moved on while their careers are young and can make some money in Europe.

De Colo will never be a spur, he can't guard anybody, everybody is blowing right pass him whenever they want. I think he probably wouldn't being playing if Beaubois and Parker were available. He has some offense but he has no defense, Pop will keep him in a suit all season, waste of money if we bring him over.

I'm sorry but he didn't look good at all. I don't think he's ever gonna be in the NBA.

Who in the world can match up Rondo anyways?

I don't expect him to make it to the NBA. Too slow and too bad on D. We have 3-4 PGs (or rather players that can play PG) ahead of him already so it's not a problem.

:rolleyes thats real hard to assume when he's playing against the best players in the league and has not played against nba competition he didn't do a bad job kid can shoot he is not bad for a 2nd round pick he will continue to get better over experience

To be fair to De Colo, he's playing as a 6'5" PG which may work for him in Europe. In the NBA, speed kills at the PG position. There's no way Pop would make him guard a player like Rondo who is arguably the fastest player in the league along with Parker, Rose, CP3, et al. He might have a chance guarding some lesser 2-guards in the league but he will have to improve his defense considerably to get a sniff in the NBA. Fortunately, he's still very young and has time to develop. To put it in perspective, Manu was not the greatest defender when he was 20 years old. If he makes it...great. If not, he'll still make a good living in Europe.

I don't think you can base the potential of DeColo by evaluating him in one performance against a proven NBA point guard like Rondo. He has a lot to learn, but his potential is only limited by his own desire to improve as a player.

DrSteffo

I don't think players improve their athletic ability or quickness all that much with age. It's his limited athletic abilities that will hurt him, not things PGs normally pick up with time. Having a proven nba PG expose his weaknesses says a lot to me since he would have to go up against those players in the NBA.
