For those who played multiple games of the nba 2k series, which do you think has the best gameplay?

NBA 2k5 was great for it's time. 2k8 was also very good.

2K7 and 2K9 tbh, I didn't play 2k8 though. 2k10 is just shit imho, it is a terrible game straight out of the box and if you want decent simulation/stats you have to fuck with the sliders tbqh

2k7 and 2k8 seem to have the best reviews on amazon. Is that accurate in saying those are the best games of the 2k series?

2K7, Finley was like LeBron on that game.

2k7 and 2k8 for me. Those were the best.

2k8 was the best. 2k9 was kinda good. 2k just tanked on 2k10.

The sad thing is 2K10 still beats anything live have made the past years.

2k10 sucks but I agree it's still better than Live. The Live series is now calling there new game "NBA Elite 11" I wonder if they are going to change anything or make it a better game. I was really upset with this years 2k

2K, 2K1, and 2K2 were the best mainly because they used the Sega Sports graphics and announcers. The NBA 2K games started to suck when ESPN stepped in. I bet people don't realize that the whole 2K sports series came from the gone but not forgotten Sega Dreamcast(RIP).

You'd have to be a retard not to know it started off on the Dreamcast, idiot.

Yeah, like every other sports title out there.

I'd say that NBA 2K3 and NBA 2K8 had the best gameplay, IMO. Timmy Duncan was unstoppable in that game (2K8) and I'd regularly post triple-doubles with him. I'm hoping that 2K11 surpasses them all, though.

I hated playing the Spurs in 2k8. It wasn't fair.

Most of the kids that are playing the 2K sports games now were probably in diapers when the Dreamcast came out so I'm not an idiot when I say that some people probably don't know that those games were originally Dreamcast exclusives. :rolleyes

I liked being able to see the play diagrams ingame on 2k8. I haven't seen any improvement in the game since though.

They've wasted the last 2 years improving dunks rather than the gameplay.

i always hear people complain about 2k10.......with no real complaints other than, "it sucks compared to 2k9"......dont get it.

ive liked each new one better than the last, with some taking a little longer to get used to than others. Ive played every year since 2k on the dreamcast.

I'm prob in the minority here, but I love 2k10. It's a great series and it doesn't get any better.

I still wonder what it would be like if 2K had continued to make the 2k NFL series. Can you imagine what it would look like now? NFL 2K5 is Still my fav NFL game ever made. Get rid of EA's liscense and bring back the NFL 2K series. Madden needs more competition!

2k games are no real. There more details in 2k10 than former versions but in reality the controlling isn't much better than the classical games like live 04, live 05 etc.

lol NBA Live sucks. 2K is way above Live. There is no perfect game however. Might never be one either.

No other opinions? Worth getting 2k8 if you already have 2k7?

Definitely. 2k8 is far superior to 2k7.

I know this topic is old as hell, but I am a longtime fan of the 2k series and wanted to comment. I have every game between 2k3 and 2k12, and I must say the best in the series is 2k4 and 2k5, with the slight edge going to 2k5. I just recently revisited these games, and they are superior for two reasons: the gameplay was perfectly balanced (deep and tight controls, but not overly complex like the newer ones), and the ESPN presentation was really solid. Plus, the spurs were at their best in those years, and Duncan was the highest rated player in 2k4 with a perfect 100 (and a 98 in 2k5). For me, I also have lots of memories of playing them while I was in high school, lots of epic games online. But after revisiting them, I can honestly say they are truly the best in the series.

Glad I'm not the only one that agrees 2k5 was AWESOME! I've tried 2k6, 2k7, 2k8,2k11. Never could grasp the gameplay that well. While 2k5 was just very balanced and if two people who were playing were really going at it, the game just never seemed to do anything out of the ball park. Great Game!
