Not sold on our "new and improved" defense till I see them in action, but offense bails us out in this one.

True. But baylor isn't a premier university nor public.

Could someone possibly just point me in the right direction on how to get a feed of this game? I'm stuck in Dallas w/ the Okie State game on FSNSW.

can't really say much about a win over a division 2 team but at least they did not have the kind of performances we had grown accustomed to; weak wins over very bad teams. so they did what they had to do and the defense at least did well against a team they had to do well against. that being said, they have to do the same against la tech. although, we will not know much about this team until they play okie state (who looked awesome by the way).

I agree. Although it's obvious that the defense is much improved already they still seemed a bit slow IMO. Fundamentally they look a lot better as a unit and the effort is a thousand times better regarding the pursuit of the ball but it still looks like Arkansas and others might still be a little faster than us. Special teams is still a joke which is disappointing also. I expect La Tech to make it a little closer than SFA but you're right about us not knowing much until we make that trip up to Stillwater. Okie state surprised me last weekend, they looked good.

Offense is last of our worries although Jerrod made some questionable passes but it was his first game since his shoulder surgery.

speaking of special teams, the kicker who nailed that 61 yarded for SMU was once at A&M for 2 years before transferring. now that's letting one get away.

He was a mental wreck when he left (and no real fault of his own, btw), so I'm glad he's doing well @ SMU. I had his dad as my prof for a business class last year--great folks.

Despite the slow-starting offense (no real worries there, IMO), the thing I was happiest with was the tackling on defense. Last few years it seems like no matter who we were playing, the opposition would break 2 or 3 weak arm tackles before we got 'em on the ground. Good to see the defense giving some licks out there for a change.

the freshman, nehimiah hicks, looked nice at tight end as well.

I wouldn't read too much into okie's performance...wazzou is beyond bad. At this point, its very difficult to know much about either team.

and meanwhile Tech is stuck with a kicker won his job after a halftime contest and had two attempts batted down in the SMU game.

yay.

they actually asked sherman yesterday if he would consider the same thing tech did. while he did not say he would, he did say that he would give the job to any student on campus anywhere who could get it done. so we have not quite hit that point yet, but....

hard to believe there are so few good kickers out there.
