Co-chair of Obama debt panel under fire for remarks (http://money.cnn.com/2010/08/25/news/economy/alan_simpson_fiscal_commission/index.htm)
Just so you know how the administration views those of us who are contributing to -- and then hoping to withdraw from --the Government Ponzi Scheme, otherwise known as Social Security:
"I've made some plenty smart cracks about people on Social Security who milk it to the last degree. You know 'em too. It's the same with any system in America. We've reached a point now where it's like a milk cow with 310 million tits! Call when you get honest work!"

Old news. Simpson already apologized and Obama already accepted his apology.

Any conversation that would occur here occurs post-mortem.

I'm not sure how his apologizing to Obama (and, Obama accepting, for that matter) for an insult made to 310 Million Americans, is germane to the post or the conversation.

What would be germane then?

The apology might have been germane in some way to Simpson's continuance in service on the so-called Catfood Commission. But that's just a guess.

Was Yoni really expecting anything else from a Republican?

In my youth, I recall Simpson being referred to as a firebrand. I'm not surprised he makes a few kooky observations.

About raising eligibility to age 70, for example?

I was thinking more along the lines of the milk cow, but yeah, he's also right about needing to raise the retirement age.

I would say it's less controversial than other things in the Obama administration. So many things going wrong, hard to say what is worse!
