WASHINGTON -- Rookie right-hander Stephen Strasburg (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?playerId=30373) has a significant tear on the ulnar collateral ligament that probably will require reconstructive Tommy John elbow surgery, the Washington Nationals (http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/wsh/washington-nationals) announced Friday.

Strasburg

The star rookie pitcher has had two MRIs since he was removed from Saturday's game at Philadelphia. The initial diagnosis was a strained tendon in his right forearm. But the first MRI raised enough questions for the team to order a more enhanced MRI that was performed Thursday.

Strasburg is scheduled to see Dr. Lewis Yocum.

Strasburg was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday, the second time he's been on the DL in less than a month. He was previously shelved with inflammation in his right shoulder.

Strasburg, whose impressive array of pitches includes a 100-mph fastball, a dominating changeup and a devastating curveball, has logged 68 innings in 12 starts as a rookie with the Nationals, going 5-3 with 92 strikeouts, 17 walks and a 2.91 ERA.

oh and enright not the hype as strasburg has a better era then him
oh and this is what he has faced so far

While running through his first 10 starts like an old pro, D-backs rookie Barry Enright has been matched against Tim Lincecum, Ubaldo Jimenez and Stephen Strasburg, and he hasn't blinked once.
"I think he likes [the challenge]," D-backs manager Kirk Gibson said. "He's the exception."

Enright gets another crack at Lincecum on Friday

oh did I forget to mention he can hit
Enright is hitting .350 (7-for-20) this season and is 2-for-2 against Lincecum with a pair of RBIs

oh and he beat Ubaldo Jimenez and got no mention of it on baseball tonight
why because he does not throw 100
he just puts in the location you need to
oh and he has given up 3 runs ONCE out of 10 starts
and has always went 5 innings

Are you Enright's publicist?

Sucks for Strasburg and the Nationals. Likely will be out all of next season too...

no I am not enight's publicist
but why does he not get any hype?
oh wait he does not throw 100mph
how fast it is thrown is why overrated
people can hit a 103 mph fast ball if it is thrown over the middle of the plate

better for the nationals now then later when they actually might be contenders

people said stasburg had bad mechanics nationals should have known better
