I'm not defending it but "suit up" has been around a lot longer than Barney Stinson has. All of my coaches used the term. Who knows? Maybe the Roman Centurions uttered in Latin, "suit up, men!"

So they only care about the "suits" that sit on the lower level?

Does this hint at the Spurs new jerseys?

Do I like this?

I suppose I like "Come Together" more but both don't really do it for me (hopefully the commercials are okay :hat). Anyone have any better examples of NBA team marketing slogans?

Haven't seen the ads, but just as a catch-phrase/slogan at first blush? It's a little generic.

I'm sure Tim isn't fond of the word "suit".

pretty fuckin' lame, since you asked...

what really is impressive is that they paid a bunch of money to some ad agency to come up with some lame, weak and uninventive catch phrase...impressive on the part of the ad agency to extort money legally from the spurs

oh well

English is not my first language but to me "suit up" sounds a bit too gentleman like and like they want to sell more jerseys. Bad slogan but doesn't matter.

How about "Live Up," as in:

Bonner/Jefferson, live up to your contracts.

Splitter, live up to your hype.

Blair, live up to the expectations placed on a second-year Spursplayer.

Hill, live up to the glimpses of immense talent you showed last year.

Parker, live up to, well, basically everything.

Manu, just live, for one full season, please.

Better than "Give Up", I suppose. Manu did have a nice season last year. 74 games, led the Spurs in scoring (regular and playoffs), he did get a broken nose in the playoffs but that didn't keep him from being the NBA steals/game leader in the playoffs. To live for one full season again is a good slogan, though....as are all of the above.

That's what I was thinking. They probably pitched it as a 2 for 1.

I'd imagine it's pretty hard to come up with a good slogan though. I can't think of anything good. My question is do they have to come up with something new every season?

Do you remember Cottonball marketing theme?

Ed Helicopter Jones

It almost sounds/looks like "shut up", which is a pretty cool theme....

"Why did it just cost $600 to take my family to a game?"

"SHUT UP!"

"Why are the foul rules geared to protect the league's stars at the expense of true competition?"

"SHUT UP!"

"Why do so many players act like prima donas and have bad attitudes towards the fans who support them?"

"SHUT UP!"

"Does anyone else think George Gervin could average 60 points a game in today's non-hand checking league and that the Kobe/Lebron's are merely lucky to be playing now?"

"SHUT UP!"

"Sadly, there will never be another Bruise Brothers."

"SHUT UP!"

It totally works for me.

Do they want their fans to dress well or are they supposed to show up expecting Pop will pat them on the butt and tell them to get into the game for Manu?

I don't like giving fans too much ownership. Ownership around here allowed a fan to throw a cup of beer. There's a sense of entitlement that comes from the organization telling you that it's "all about you, it's all for you, this is your team" for basically worshiping the fans for throwing money at the team. So, no. I don't like it.

They should encourage philanthropy. I don't know if this comes with this, but something like this should be about teaming up for a better world, using the Spurs as a catalyst for that. I don't think this should be used to sell tickets.
