There's actually a bit of a history to this one site.

Everyone remembers Derek Fisher's shot. Everyone has seen the clips of the shot clock starting "late." What most people don't realize is that all three refs, along with the person running the shot clock, all have a button they press to start the clock. First one to hit it, starts it. Adding in this element of human error to the equation, Derek Fisher actually had more than .4 seconds to shoot. Somewhere aroung .6-.65, actually. And that is assuming one of the refs had really fast reflexes. How fast? Try it yourself.

If I remember correctly, somewhere around .32 seconds is about average. Do this 10+ times if you want to get a good estimate of how fast you are. The best I ever got was .22 seconds. I'm doing about .34 right now.

I get close to 1000 on the penguin game but I can't even break 700 on the kitty. I never get the balloons.

The 0.4 analogy doesn't completely hold up, in that in that case the refs had a visual lead (the inbounds pass) which allowed them to anticipate when to start the clock.

Also (a question with all these games), doesn't it also depend on the speed of your connection?
