Jack, I hear the bathrooms at the Costco get mightly slippery. I think if you had a little "accident", then you might walk away with a nice little settlement. We might even starting calling you Lucky.

But you're above that, aren't you? Sure you are.

Over 30 million people that want to work but can't find jobs is a good thing. Gotcha!

Unemployment is way above 10 percent. "........turn the coin and 90.7% employment is not too bad...." is a straight up lie.

Keep Obama in office and the dems that follow him and you are the ones wanting America to fail.

"90.7% employment is not too bad."

except the several % of those are re-employed at a (much) lower income than on previous job. aka, they are overqualified/underemployed and/or part-time employed.

And another several % are unemployed but not counted because they gave up looking.

Unlike all other industrial countries Americans, Productivity World Champions and Dupes, work more with less vacation. The trend is to work more/less vacation, while household incomes remain stagnant (working more doesn't mean making more, unless your top mgmt and investors):

http://archives.cnn.com/2001/CAREER/trends/08/30/ilo.study/

It's all part of a the Repug/Movement Conservative/corporate/capitalist plan to fuck over/exploit/impoverish US citizens, firing millions of them, dumping more work and more hours on intimidated employees, while the mgmt and investment funds pay themselves for their crimes.

btw, illegals aliens are perfect for employers, as they are often badly underpaid, even upaid, no benefits, no vacation. Easy to see why Repugs didn't fix the illegal immigration problem for their 6-year Reign of Error, and then dumped the false "problem" on Magic Negro for electoral gain, then will not do anything effective about illegal immigration, once again betraying their roused-rabble base, and blaming Magic Negro for that, too.

In case you didn't know, America (the lower 95%)is fucked and unfuckable. The top 5% have amassed too much wealth and power and are now completely out reach of the lower 95%.

Who is responsible for that? If YOU gave up looking for a job?

The cause is the huge mismatch between job demand and job supply, with 5 or so demanders for every job offer.

When the jobs have increased recently, the unemployment went up, because withdrawn demanders came back into the market.

90.7% employment? Really now, are you that stupid? there is probably 19% (+/- a little) unemployment. It may be as high as 35% now, but look it up yourself if you care.

The 9.x% figure is from regular survey. It includes those looking for work. Not the underemployed or those who gave up.

No, your claim is wrong. There probably are about 30,000,000 unemployed if you look at the right unemployment table of the many. Problem is, they seem not to collect those statistics any longer. The current 9.6% is from table A-1 (http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t01.htm). Used to be something like A-5 I think, but apparently, they want to hid the awful truth of how many people are really unemployed.

The August 201 figures are based on a noninstitutionalized population of 238,099,000 people. Of that, 154,110 people are working or looking for work. This is a participation rate of 64.73%. 139,250,000 are working, or 54.58%. This means from this calculation, 90.36% are working of the 64.73%, and 9.64% are not working.

Damn.

I ran an ad last week for an experienced ranch hand 32 hour week @ $8 an hour...had to have experience with tractors, implements, etc. plus a lot of manual labor. I was explicit.

You wouldn't believe the responses I've gotten, and most of them would be driving 40 miles from San Antonio.

Even had a 27 year old guy with a good resume and a degree in agriculture.

It's really bad out there.

What, that unemployment may be as high as 25%? It was something like 17% some time back, when the normal published figure went past 8%. With the extra long time, more of a percentage may have stopped looking.

CosmicCowboy
09-07-2010, 10:06 PM
If you count unemployed and underemployed I'd definitely buy 25-30%. Full time 40 hour jobs without a college degree and/or skill are almost non-existent. The federal/state mandates for full time employees are just too onerous and growing every year. The new health bill will kill even more full time jobs.

If you think they won't you are a fool. Ask anyone working retail for the huge companies...Target, Petsmart, Home Depot, Macys, etc. None of them get 40 hours and benefits. That trend is rapidly moving into other businesses that were traditionally 40 hour jobs.

Right. I'm sure higher healthcare costs for employers won't have any effect whatsoever on jobs.

In another thread, I referenced an article where employers were simply passing on this year's entire 14% health insurance increase straight through to employees, along with higher deductible and co-pays (which means the employer is buying a cheaper plan).

The more employees have to pay with AFTER-TAX income for exorbitant insurance rates driven profit seeking and by exorbitant health care costs (twice as expensive per capita any other industrial country where all the populations are covered and health care is a right), the more they will consider a public option as the only way to hold down costs, and not as Repug-lie socialism.

The health care system blatant, gouging rip-off of America is just another way America is fucked and unfuckable.

Health insurers seek rate hikes, blame healthcare reform

Health insurers seek rate hikes, blame healthcare reform

If you have an individual health insurance policy, you may be soon seeing yet higher rates -- and if you believe the insurance companies, it's in part because healthcare reform requires additional benefits.

"Aetna Inc., some BlueCross BlueShield plans and other smaller carriers have asked for premium increases of between 1% and 9% to pay for extra benefits required under the law, according to filings with state regulators," Janet Adamy writes in the Wall Street Journal Wednesday.

The proposed rate hikes, according to filings, fall mostly on small business and individual insurance policies. About nine percent of Americans have individual policies.

The bad news is that the one to nine percent is only part of the price hikes insurers are seeking.

"Many carriers also are seeking additional rate increases that they say they need to cover rising medical costs," Adamy pens. "As a result, some consumers could face total premium increases of more than 20%.

===============

The health insurers sought and picked up (subsidized) income from millions of new clients, but that's not enough. They want your blood (and they'll give you shitty coverage and tons of paperwork).

Costs always have and always will get passed along. All Obamacare does is give employers more costs to pass along to their employees, as well as giving large companies an incentive to outsource more jobs and small businesses an incentive to limit the number of employees they have so that they can stay below the exemption limit.
