I'm not saying bench Duncan. I'm not saying trade him. I'm saying the Spurs offense (you know that there are four other players on the court with him, right?) flows much better when its' not a throw it in and stand around and wait offense, but when you put the ball in the hands of a guy like Manu and let him either score or set up his teammates.
Duncan got two easy looks in the last minute and a half thanks to Manu's creation. Both were much higher percentage shots for Tim than giving him the ball 15-20 ft. away with his back to the bucket, two Sonics in between him and the rim, and 10 seconds on the shot clock to figure out what to do.
This isn't about bashing Duncan, it's about putting him in more situations like on the two plays by Manu he finished, and less situations like the third quarter when he was 1-13.

After Tim gave away so many open jump shots this series, he hustled his pained, tired butt over there and got his hands straight up, not risking trying to swat/block the shot. Perfect defense.
Ray took an an amazing shot, perfect range, but just 1/2 ball to the right.
Two consecutive great plays by Tim on both ends to win the game.
47 minutes of sucky basketball forgiven! :)

Like you say---thanks to manu's creation. Pop said in his interview that he just let Manu have the ball and left it up to him to come up with several options. That last play---both the awesome pass and the followthru by Duncan were beyond description. what a play to end the game!!
Horry For 3!

where did i say that u said trade him or whatever, where did i say just do 4 down. i didn't. there are other plays for duncan besides just 4 down, you can still utilize motion in an offense with the end purpose that duncan gets the ball under the basket.
just cuz a guy is 1-13 doesn't mean u just don't give him the ball anymore, why not be 1-23? if u just give up on a guy thats no good, not when it's duncan. the odds are he won't go another 1-13. he'll prob do as he did tonight and start makin shit.

But there again you make my point. Duncan wasn't getting the ball underneath the bucket. He was getting it outside of 10 feet every time, usually somewhere in the 15-20 ft. range.
And we weren't utilizing motion, we were utilizing throw it to Tim and stand around to wait for the double to come.

well if we just talk about throw it down, then that is no good all the time.

ahf is right.
when the offense is flowing through manu and to a lesser extent parker, this offense flows a hell of a lot better.
you know its something many of us wanted years ago, when we see it, the offense looks good and produces points.
when we revert to 4 down we revert to the old nightmares.

Incredible game ! This was a war. Sonics fans getting blasted on national radio sports talkshows for cheering the Duncan injury. We get to cheer last though ! So much for "no respect" Jerome James !!!
