Tweets: 'I'm Prepared to Face Consequences'
"Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, hat I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result.
Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day. I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future.
This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences.
I am so thankful for the support of my fans, loved ones and immediate family, who understand that i am trying hard, but also that I am a work in progress, just as anyone else. I am keeping my faith, and I am hopeful....Thank you all!!!"

This was written in an article a month ago before she was released early from rehab.
"It’s so sad how Lindsay is getting her way just because she thinks she doesn’t actually have a problem. It’s like it’s rubbing off on everyone, and they’re beginning to believe she’s ok.
We enjoyed the silence on Twitter while it lasted, because you know that’s the first thing Lindsay will do when she gets released."

Cancer is a disease. Using drugs or abusing alcohol is a choice.
The use of drugs and alcohol is a choice, however, for those who are predisposed to the addiction gene it is a disease. This is why it is best for those who have alcoholism or addiction in their family to stay completely away from alcohol and drugs in the first place. Once the addict chooses to drink or use their inability to stay away from it once the addiction set it is where the disease aspect of it comes in. But of course if you aren't an addict you wouldn't understand.
However, I do believe she is using the "disease" aspect of this as an excuse.

So if you are a drug addict or boozer you go to rehab to get clean for good of those subtances but if you are a Sex Addict you are supposed to still have sex but not be abusive with it.. RIGHTTTTTT...

Agreed. I still drink more than i should. I Used to drink every day.. 5 or 6 drinks a day or more. Now i do it maybe 3 or 4 days a week, very often less than that because i am so busy. When i have something important going on i don't drink. Ever. I'm back at school, you'll never see me making a presentation with a bad hang-over..

Maybe you don't understand unless you are the family member of an addict. Family members or close friends can often see with clear eyes what really happens, not the muddled, often incorrect imperceptions the addict gets through their chemical-induced fog. If there is something addicts generally get wrong, it's reality and how to deal with it.

Cancer is a disease. Using drugs or abusing alcohol is a choice.Initially, yeah. It's kind of a weird line. Calling it a disease frees them of responsibility, but saying it isn't a disease is not medically accurate. You have a lot of changes from a physiologic perspective (receptor down regulation, increased dopaminergic firing, changes in the synapses of the VTA). She does seem like a cunt, but you can't extrapolate that to everyone with a substance abuse problem. For some people, it is no longer a choice. The pharmacology behind addiction is very powerful. I mean, you can take it down to it's most basic level. Dopamine has a lot of roles, and one of them is that it is a chemical that stimulates your reward center. You release some when you eat, drink, have sex...basically all the essential functions for life. You release so much more with cocaine than you would ever find in a natural circumstance. Over time, your brain incorporates that into one of it's essential functions for survival. You must take in cocaine to survive (or at least that's the message you're receiving from your brain). It's more complicated than that, but I'm just saying, there's more to addiction than choice.

Sure, and its your choice to eat or not.
Not the same thing.
If you choose not to eat, you'll die. Simple as that. Eating, breathing, sleeping...all of these are human functions that cannot be denied.
If you choose not to do meth, it's not going to kill you. No matter how much addicts feel like it will.
Sure, breaking an addiction requires getting past several hurdles, both physiological and psychological. But it's still a self-inflicted affliction, bred and nurtured out of personal choice and bad decisions / lack of discipline.
When it comes down to it, we are all given the chance to decide what we will or will not allow in our bodies. Generally speaking, people don't choose to get cancer, or diabetes, or other natural-born diseases; It's something that they are just forced to live with. I think that is the reason people have a problem calling alcoholism / addiction a "disease", as it seems like it's excusing the bad decisions that caused the problem in the first place as unavoidable circumstance.

Anyways, there comes a point in every ones life when you have to grow the fuck up and quit acting like a child. What Lohan needs is to do is to get away from Hollywood, so she could leave that drug/party lifestyle for good. If she stays in it, she's going to be falling in the hole due to the temptations that Hollywood has to offer.

I have a serious disease and I am trying to cope with it, I would really appreciate it if people would get off my back and let me try and live my life as I struggle with this serious disease.
Where is the compassion for this young girl who loves to spend millions on clothes, cars, booze, and drugs as she makes movies and parties with friends?
Do any of you fuck heads have a heart and soul how can you be so rude where is your sympathy?

Having thought about it for a while, I can begin to see points the other side has made. I still don't necessarily buy them, but they are a bit more clear. It's difficult to reconcile with the idea that a "disease" might be something you choose to give yourself, but I understood the concept a bit better when I considered the diabetics who knowingly ate themselves into it, or the smokers who end up with lung cancer.
Dr. Gonzo
09-20-2010, 10:44 AM
Nobody chooses to be an addict. The addiction is the disease. One can drink or use drugs without becoming an addict, but once one becomes an addict is when one gets the disease and there is no cure. One can learn to manage the disease by using whatever tools necessary to abstain from use but that person will always be an addict.
It's no different than the examples you give about diabetes or lung cancer. Yet people with those diseases are given sympathy but alcoholics and addicts are mostly given shit by people that don't understand the disease.
Dr. Gonzo

I remember when I was first drinking I would decide to only have one beer in a night. After that one beer I would have a burning in my body that could only be soothed by having more alcohol. I didn't want to drink more but before I knew it I would be 12-14 beers deep, trying to soothe the burning in my body. Only have a couple and stopping was never an option. That's the disease. Once I learned to stay away altogether and understood why I was drinking I was able to get it under control. But I now know I can never have just one without getting back into the downward spiral that led me to want to quit in the first place. I will always be an addict.

Lohan needs to drop her druggie friends A.S.A.P and start loving herself a bit more. She needs to find healthier habbits like; cycling, working out, helping out at the ronald mcdonald house, fishing, go back to school, find a real down to earth guy who's going to love you for who you are and not your money or fame(i.e. Jim Caveziel, Eduardo Verastegui type. Not the bush/bull dyke samantha Ronson who is a druggie party animal herself.)

Lohan freed from jail after posting bail (http://omg.yahoo.com/news/lohan-freed-from-la-jail-after-posting-bail/47834)
LOS ANGELES - Lindsay Lohan was freed from a suburban Los Angeles jail late Friday night, well short of the nearly monthlong stay a judge had intended for the actress following a failed drug test.
Lohan was released at about 11:40 p.m. after posting $300,000 bail, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said early Saturday.
Celebrity website TMZ.com reported her release just before midnight.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox had ordered Lohan held without bail during a brief hearing Friday morning, But his ruling later was overturned after the "Mean Girls" star's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, filed a late-afternoon appeal seeking bail.
Judge Patricia Schnegg, who is an assistant supervising judge of LA's criminal courts, issued a ruling shortly before 6 p.m., saying that since the starlet had been convicted of misdemeanors, she was entitled to bail.
The actress is not entirely free. She will be required to wear an ankle alcohol monitor and stay away from establishments that primarily sell alcohol.
She is also due back in court on Oct. 22, when the judge who curtly sent her to jail will decide what her punishment will be for failing a drug test roughly two weeks after he released her early from rehab.
At that hearing, Fox will formally determine whether Lohan, 24, violated her probation by failing a court-mandated drug test. The positive result came after the judge released Lohan early from inpatient rehab at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
Fox did not say why he had ordered no bail for the actress Friday morning, or state what drug appeared in her system during the recent test.
Friday marked the third time Lohan has been sent to jail in a three-year-old drug and drunken driving case. She spent 84 minutes at the jail in 2007 and 14 days of a three-month sentence earlier this summer.
After news of her positive drug test broke last week, Lohan seemed to acknowledge an addiction problem on her Twitter feed.
"Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night," Lohan posted on Twitter on Sept. 17. "This is certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences."
Fox had laid out a strict 67-day course of counseling, substance abuse meetings, monitoring and drug testing for Lohan in August. He asked probation officials on Friday to report how the actress had progressed on the treatment programs before Lohan's next court hearing.
The judge has said Lohan would be sent to jail for 30 days for each drug screening she skipped or failed and appeared to make good on the promise with his no bail order.
If he sentences her to jail in October, the amount of time he orders her to serve would be whittled down because of jail overcrowding and various credits.
Despite her release Friday, Lohan's continued court troubles have cast a pall over her career. She has been slated to star as Linda Lovelace in a biopic about the porn star, but the production schedule already was altered when Lohan was sent to jail in July.
