Example please, unless you are limiting that to liberals, who won't vote for a republican anyway. Have any links showing such a thing?
Most conservatives criticize character. Not personal choices that don't harm their values.
Don't you see?
I'll bet conservative turnout will be about 30% better than liberal turnout. You don't think they will vote for liberals do you?

The fact that this is even circulated proves that this statement is true for both sides. Oh and I dont GAF about her religious beliefs as long as she doesn't try to push it on anyone (I am pretty sure she will do this anyway). If she wants to pee in a cake and bury it, then go for it.

Their spells have the same effectiveness as your prayers.
If you think about it, it is funny that the term "dabbling in witchcraft" is any different than the millions that dabble in Christianity or Islam.
The parallels between Christine O'Donnell and Govenor Sarah "Quitter" Palin are striking.

At the Democratic National Committee, aides already have started work on a database to link the most controversial statements of the Tea Party-backed candidates to possible Republican presidential aspirants.
The database will point out, for example, that Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney are supporting the Republican candidate for Senate in Nevada, Sharron Angle, who once said that victims of rape should make “what was really a lemon situation into lemonade,” and Ms. O’Donnell, who has said that having women in the service academies “cripples the readiness of our defense.”
The tactic of linking potential Republican rivals to such statements was already in evidence last week. After Ms. O’Donnell’s victory, a party spokesman told reporters, “The fact that Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin would put their name behind a candidate that believes women who serve our country ‘cripple the readiness of our defense’ make them unfit to be commander-in-chief.”

If against all reasonable odds she beats Coons in November, that will be greatly in her favor in terms of the comparison. Until then, it's all bs.

Thats the problem with being the christian candidate...there's no litmus test to prove your sincere and not just trying to line your pockets simply by selling the product. When "Christians" are anti-intellectual, anti-science, narrow-minded haters, theocratic supremactists, Orwellian history revisionsists, Bible literalists, and/or creationists, they deserve to be mocked.
I note that many Protestant Christians often detest and ridicule the Catholic church, and don't even admit Mormons are Christians.

Fine. A made up religion and a smaller following. I'm OK with "Merry Christmas and happy holidays," but Christmas is the economic leader in December. not other holidays. My feeling is that if a retailer wished to be politically correct rather than selling Christmas gifts, then they don't get my business in December.
Do we say have holiday sales in November, or thanksgiving sales? Do we have holiday sales in July, or 4th of July sales.

Yes, but gift giving is not traditional. This was started so the children didn't feel left out for Christmas.

Through perverse court decisions and years of cultural indoctrination, the elitist, secular Left has managed to convince many in our nation that religion must be driven from public view. The justification is always that someone, somewhere, might possibly be offended or feel uncomfortable living in the midst of a largely Christian society, so all must yield to the fragile sensibilities of the few. The ultimate goal of the anti-religious elites is to transform America into a completely secular nation, a nation that is legally and culturally biased against Christianity.
Doesn't sound very libertarian there, does he? :lol

It's pretty much a contest of PC, yeah. If you choose not to purchase something from a place that says Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, feel free; there's probably alot of people on the other side of the issue as well. Whoever gets the most people on their side is what will determine what door greeters say.
Doesn't make a big difference to me: I love Christmas, and I'm an atheist. I choose to celebrate the holiday as a time where people can put aside their differences and do something to help their fellow man. And yeah, getting and giving presents is fun too.

So, you're against businesses not wanting to alienate consumers that might feel like they're being hit over the head with Christmas at the shopping counter? Theirjob is to make the most money by accomodating the most customers, and if saying "Merry Christmas" spoils the shopping experiance for some people, I don't see why you'd take your money elsewhere based on that alone - sounds fairly anti-capitalist to hate on businessess that try to accomadate the tastes of its customers, and thus would be anti-American.
You know what's funny. I am even on the other side of this issue religiously. It's been an American tradition since before this was America, but the early Christians seized the holiday from the pagans.
If Christmas is a stolen tradition from pagans, then why give a fuck when you know it's a rip-off celebration that just happened to win out in the "holiday brand wars"? I'd be more sad that the original pagan beliefs have been ignored from the historical narrative, I'm sure they're quite interesting.

Actually this is perfectly capitalist. The market will serve the functions that the market demands. This is a great example of that. A large portion (or at least the most vocal portion) of the market demands "Happy Holidays," therefore the market responds with many stores displaying and greeting with "Happy Holidays." However, this was "a large portion", the rest of the market demands "Merry Christmas" (this is obviously simplified, I am sure there is a smaller portion of the market demanding other stuff). In fact, seeing as this is not the norm now, for those demanding "Merry Christmas" value has been added to those stores that do display this. Added value = shopkeepers can charge more. It is likely that you pay a little extra at these stores and their prices can be justified (at least in some very small part) by the fact that they display "Merry Christmas." If the market didn't demand these things, then they wouldn't exist.
Also, why chastise him for choosing to go to a store that says Merry Christmas, and defend those who want to go to a store that says "Happy Holidays". Perhaps he is getting tired of being hit over the head with "Happy Holidays."
Oh and BTW the job of any business is to make money, not make money by accomodating the most customers.

^ You posited that POV, and the burden is on you to show how people make money without accomodating the most customers. Perhaps you worded it wrong and I took a typo/slip of the typing fingers as literal - otherwise what you said makes no sense with regard to Holiday shopping.
Maximize profits by maximizing customer base. How is that wrong?
Drachen
09-21-2010, 01:03 PM
Take each of the 2 statements as a whole
"The job of any business is to make money"
"The job of any business is to make money by accomodating the most customers"
The former is true, while the latter is a business strategy used by some companies to accomplish the former.
The "Apple, Mercedes . . . ." comment was not an attempt to push responsibility off on you, it was more of a sarcastic way of giving you examples of companies which do not subscribe to your proposed business model.
i.e. Ford's profit margin is currently just over 7.4%, Mercedes' profit margin is just over10%. Mercedes could widen their customer base by dropping prices to the point that their profit margin is at least as low as Ford's, even more so if they drop it further. This is not to say that they could capture the same market share as Ford if their profit margin was equal as there would still be a difference in actual price, but relative to their current customer base more people would be able to afford a Mercedes. However, even with an increased customer base, the company may make less money due to the fact that the difference in customers may not result in enough cars being sold in order to compensate for the lost profit margin. Additionally, if enough Mercedes are sold, this could alienate some of the current customer base who believe that exclusivity has value. If the company's research points to one or both of the last two points happening, then it would be imprudent for them to make such a decision since the goal of business is to make money.

Take each of the 2 statements as a whole
"The job of any business is to make money"
"The job of any business is to make money by accomodating the most customers"
The former is true, while the latter is a business strategy used by some companies to accomplish the former.
Ohhhh, I see what you did there. Point taken. :p:
O'Donnell still sucks!!!

Once again, the Left's tolerance and diversity mantra rings hollow... Who knew that witches had fallen out of favor with the Left? ...You have to wonder if it's O'Donnell's dabbling or denunciation that's piqued the pagans... If the Left continues to link witchcraft and paganism to "crazies," Obama could end up on the wrong end of the mystics' magical broom...

"
Another Christine O'Donnell embellishment: She misleadingly claims she studied at Oxford
In another move that will raise further questions about Christine O'Donnell's embellishment of her education record, she claims she studied at the University of Oxford -- but a look at her actual record shows this is at best an exaggeration and at worst an outright falsehood.
O'Donnell's LinkedIn bio page lists "University of Oxford" as one of the schools she attended, claiming she studied "Post Modernism in the New Millennium." But it turns out that was just a course conducted by an institution known as the Phoenix Institute, which merely rented space at Oxford.
What's more, the woman who oversaw Phoenix Institute's summer program at Oxford tells me O'Donnell's claim about studying at Oxford is "misleading."
By itself, O'Donnell's Oxford claim might not matter too much. But the larger context is that O'Donnell has already been nabbed fudging her education record not once, but twice. She claimed for several years to have graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson Unversity, but she actually obtained her bachelor's degree last summer. And in a lawsuit she suggested she was trying for a Master's degree courses at Princeton -- but subsequently acknowledged she hadn't taken a single Princeton graduate course."

What the fuck? This bitch hasn't learned a damn thing over the last two months. I almost want her to win now just to watch the gigantic fail she'll produce for Delaware. But then I remember that it's not good to want to see elected officials fail before they even have a chance to start things because that's anti-democratic.
For real tho, she gets her classified documents from "non-profits" :rollin
