Lionshead.

Not sure if you guys are familiar with it as it's a smaller local brand out of PA (where I'm from), but it is a great beer, and cheap.

http://lovelypackage.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/lionshead1.jpg

Anyway, all beer is relatively cheep for more of the spurstalk population than me...Pennsylvania is a piece of shit state in this regard, they tax the fuck out of alcohol.

Yeah, they do. I drank one, and felt buzzed. I finished my second one and barely remember anything from the rest of the night. The closer you get to the bottom of a 4 loko, the grosser it tastes. I threw up that night and the next morning.

I loved Mickey's when it was 2.50, and even 2.75. But they cost 3.33 at the cheapest, and as much as 3.75 for a 40. I never buy them now.

Well if you do the math, drinking a 4 loko is roughly the equivalent of drinking 6 beers.

They're 12% alcohol and 23.5 ounces (basically double a standard 12 ounce beer).

And they taste gross, all of them. The only way I've ever drank them is via beer bong. But I've retired from that.

Most of the 6 packs I buy range from 8-10% alcohol...

Miller High Life is good when you're drinking it, but tbh only drink it if you want a terrible hangover and diarrhea the next morning. Always happens to me when I drink it.

I'd rather have a 6 pack of Keystone Light tall boys for $4.99 if I want cheap beer. Doesn't give me beer shits as bad.

tbh I always see that Loko and Joose shit but never had the balls to try either.

Don't try it unless you want to get more fucked up (probably due to the "energy" part of the drink) and want green or some color shit that you've never seen the next morning.

Likes Lone Stars better, but the hangover is gnarly, and drinking them should be considered a virtue anyway. You usually get the hangover before the buzz.

America should be proud of it’s cheap, shitty beer. Cheap beer has it’s moments. There’s plenty of times during Texas summers where the last thing on earth I want to drink is some heavy ass hopped up syrupy beer. I’d rather just have a Lone Star or High Life. Time and a place for everything.

Exactly my thoughts. That's a good way to get yourself sick by drinking a bunch of IPA at a backyard BBQ during July/August. Coors/Keystone Light is fine by me.

So many craft beers/micro brews just end up being hop bombs. A sign perhaps, that people don't know what they are doing?
Of course there are a lot of options between hop bombs and cheap beer. I like a good German Pills or Helles, for example.
BTW, just for kicks I tried one of the local guy's (shant say who) so-called Helles , and it was a disgusting hop bomb.
Indeed, there are a lot of hacks who don't know what they are doing.

Depends on what you are used to. Cheap lagers are fine for shotgunning at a BBQ.

I have a bar down the street that does a pint of Lone Star and a shot of bourbon for five bucks. I do that a lot on hot days.

If I still want the bitterness, I'll typically go with Founders All Day IPA. The ABV is lower and it's every bit as light as mass produced beer.

..and if you prefer the flavor of IPA's but want something lighter for an outside function in the heat or whatever, look for something with "session" or "all day" in the name. Good balance if you don't want to be done drinking after your 2nd or 3rd beer

Yeah it's really exploded. Lakewood started pretty soon after Deep Ellum but it feels like a new one opens up every couple of months now.

It's nice though because almost every bar has a decent local beer on tap now. I remember a lot of places I had to settle for Guinness if I wanted anything other than Bud/Miller/Coors.

That used to be my go to beer when I was broke and in college. $2 bottles at some local bar. Then Aheuser Busch bought them and ruined it like always.

Nowadays when I want something drinkable for the summer I go for a Founders all day, Langunitas fractional, or Stone all day IPA.

:lol Rolling Rock and Bud Ice is the beer you take to gatherings of people you don't really give a shit about.. 7 bucks for a 12 pack? Something isn't right here..

If you're looking to try something new, Sierra Nevada came out with a seasonal called Hop Bullet which is great.. Sam Adam's just launched their New England Style IPA which smells amazing.. The NE style IPA's are hazy, unfiltered, citrus with a tartness that compliments the bitterness perfectly.

I love Sierra Nevada. Their Pale Ale was my gateway beer, tbh. Sam Adams is also great. If I ever find myself at a bar and they serve nothing but shit I find comfort in knowing that there's usually Sam Adams available.

Speaking of, my brother got his hands on a Pliny The Elder the other day. Best IPA I have ever had. It was perfect. The aroma, the color, the taste. It was perfectly balanced. Not too malty, not too hoppy. You can't even tell its 8.0% ABV.

On a side note, do you know of any cinnamon beer available for our buddy Faggs?
