I'm not surprised by the Wings's good start; their veterans are still HOF material, and they have done a great job with young players.
Plus, Babcock has been extended to 4 years.

And Datsyuk had a fight with Perry, lol.
I know Perry wanted a piece of him for years, and it's nice to see Pavel dropping the gloves; I thought he did really well (plus, I hate Perry)

And as far as watching every game, I just realized I watched all 82 Canadiens regular season games last season :wow
I'm a hardcore, hardcore Habs fan, but that's too much TV; I'll try to cut it down to 20 games this season :lol

No, he is a damn fine prospect to be sure, but he is behind guys like Maltby (maybe, he might retire), Tatar, Emmerton and Nyquist. Make no mistake though, the kid is reeeeeeal good and will be with the big club come playoff time as a "Black Ace".

Too bad, i was hoping we would have more than one player in NHL this year. I doubt he will ever make it. I think by the time some roster spots will open up in Detroit, the team will have better/younger prospects.

IMO, youd be incorrect. Mursak is a stud in the making. He will be a Red Wing, he will play in the NHL and have a very nice career.

Most likely, a solid 3rd line wing.

If he shoots the moon, a scoring 2nd line wing.

Either way, this year is the year for him in the AHL. If he improves on his good/great year of last, he's going to the show.

This kid is good, real good. I'm not sure people realise just how good he will be.

He's 22, and will be on the Wings roster next season. He's 5'11", but size isn't an issue. In his early days with thhe Griffins he was bumped off the puck too easily and was quite often a healthy scratch. In his rookie season he played as a 4th liner and for the majority of the season he was on a line with Downey. In a way, it forced him to become more gritty, more physical, not that he didn't have those attributes already. Rookie season numbers were 2-7-9, and if the ECHL were in existance that season, chances are he would've been sent down there. His second year with the Griffins was always going to be his make or break year, but attitude has never been in question...

"Remember, the first year with this kid, he had chances every night he played, but he couldn't find the back of the net," Fraser said. "But he didn't stop working, off the ice and in the gym. He didn't let things bother him, he just kept moving forward."

In 2009/10 he finished third in team scoring and second in goals, his numbers were 24-18-42. Had an insane patch where he scored 12 goals in 18 games and was basically the sole provider of the Griffins offence. He dried up in the latter stages of the season when injuries hit in GR and Detroit, but when they regained some members (mainly Abdelkader), in the final 9 games of the season he had 7 points. At the end of the season, he was called up to the Wings serving as a Black Ace. Not before that, however, he had 5-2-7 for Slovenia at Pool B world championships.

Coming into the current season, his third and last as being waiver exempt, he performed strongly in the pre-season for the Wings. He featured in the Wings last PS game and was the last to be sent to GR. I'm not entirely sure what to make of this quote (after a Detroit PS game):

"I thought Cory Emmerton and (Mursak) were fantastic today,'' Babcock said. "Both look like they're going to play and really push our guys, which is a great thing.''

Babcock likened the young forwards to longtime grinders Kris Draper and Kirk Maltby, seeing them as future replacement parts.

Surely we should be setting higher goals for a guy like Mursak? I'm not sure how that quote came about, whether he specifically mentioned Jan as a replacement for the aforementioned grinders. To me, Mursak's got second line potential, and we should be viewing this kid as a 25 goal, 50 point player. I'd love to see him on a line with Abdelkader and Hudler next season on the 3rd line. I just hope our brainstrust don't have him pegged as a grinder and just a grinder, to me he's a gifted scorer with a game that also translates well to the bottom 2 lines.

So far this season he has 6G, 4A for 10 points in 9 games. He’s amongst the league leaders in:

* T-1st shorthanded goals (2)
* T-5th in goals (6)
* T-7th point streak (6)
* T-7th goal streak (3)
* T-14th total points (10)

He's got insane speed, I mean on speed alone he could probably force his way into the NHL. He's got a great shot, and he's not afraid to go hard to the high traffic areas to score. He plays a physical game, he throws massive hits, he's a bit like Helm in a way, but possesses a more well-rounded offensive game. Terrific hands and playmaking abilities; he can weave through traffic with ease, he can kill penalties, and he can fight, and fight well:

aSUfNd6E1wU

The reaction of his teammates at 0:44 shows you how much it meant to them.

Here's another fight:

6-0Dcdc3GQI

(DR Edit: LOL @ the vid title. The other kid's last name is not Testicle)

He probably lost but his ability to hang in there against a guy who is an experienced fighter, good stuff.

So, what do others feel his NHL potential is? He's got to be firming as our best prospect, at least in the top 2 or 3 along with Smith and Nyquist. I can't wait until this kid makes his NHL debut, he's got that little special something about him.

Mr. Mursak will be with the Wings as a Black Ace these playoffs and may even find time on the ice as a regular if someone in the lineup isnt peforming. He'll be a Wing full-time next year so long as he doesnt completely fail in the preseason.

If youre interested what Wings fans think about him

They have last season's Coach of the Year, and one of the best goalies in the NHL (Bryzgalov)

If you like hockey, you should. Phoenix plays a tough brand of hockey, very measured and methodical. Physical, too. I would say theyre entertaining.

Moreover, theyre in a great division (minus Anaheim, it seems) so you'll see a lot of good teams like LA, San Jose and Dallas.

Good pick up

Kings FO paid a lot to get him, but you have to give in order to get.

PTI is discussing the Trevor Gillies suspension and players targeting stars with intent to injure. Guess it's appropriate that the guest is Jeremy Roenick. :lol

The NHL is aware of a story that Chicago Blackhawks (http://espn.go.com/nhl/team/_/name/chi/chicago-blackhawks) backup goaltender Marty Turco (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=959) placed a wager with a fan during Tuesday's game against the Canadiens in Montreal.

"We are following up to understand the circumstances, but no, I would not term it a formal investigation," NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said.
There's a Twitter photo of Turco, sitting at the end of the Blackhawks' bench, apparently accepting a $5 bill from a fan.
Someone describing himself as a Canadiens season-ticket holder called a Montreal radio station and said the bet was made after Mike Cammalleri (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=1517) put Montreal up 1-0 in the second period.
"I bet him after the Canadiens scored that Chicago wouldn't score again," the caller said.
After the Blackhawks' Patrick Kane (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=3735) tied the game minutes later, money allegedly was exchanged.
"When they scored ... I gave him five bucks," the caller said. "I slipped it through the glass. He took it with no questions whatsoever. I wrote on the $5 bill with a Sharpie, 'Habs rule.' "
"I went triple or nothing after the second period, nobody scored. Into the overtime, I went, 'Marty, I'll give you 5-to-1 the Canadiens win the game.' He took the bet. When the Canadiens scored in overtime, he handed me back a wad of $5 bills. And inside ... was the $5 bill that I gave him that he crossed out 'Habs rule,' and wrote 'Turco rules.' "
In a text to ESPNChicago.com, Turco said: "I gave back his five, and wrote something back, yeah."
The defending champion Blackhawks are fighting for their playoff lives and are in the eighth and final playoff position in the Western Conference. They host the St. Louis Blues (http://espn.go.com/nhl/team/_/name/stl/st-louis-blues) on Wednesday.
Turco signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Blackhawks, who walked away from Antti Niemi (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=3937) last summer when an arbitrator awarded him a $2.75 million judgment.
It has been a disappointing season for Turco, who is 11-11-3 with a 3.02 goals-against average.
ESPNChicago.com's Jesse Rogers contributed to this report.
