NEW YORK (AP) -- Katy Perry''s cleavage is fine for Russell Brand — not so for Elmo and "Sesame Street."

The children's show says it won't air a taped segment featuring the "California Gurls" singer and Elmo. The pop star — who is known for her risque outfits — wore a gold bustier top as she sang a version of her hit "Hot N Cold." But some felt it was too revealing for the kid set.

"Sesame Street" said in a statement Thursday that in light of the "feedback we've received" after the bit was aired on YouTube, they won't include it on the show. While the show said it was still available on YouTube, it had been removed by the official Sesame Street YouTube channel. Other versions on YouTube have generated thousands of hits.

A rep for Perry said Thursday that Perry enjoyed her time with Sesame Street and Elmo, and pointed out that the clip is still online on her website.

If any of those complainers had seen the skit or even had kids, they'd understand it was well done and fun for everyone AND that kids see tits since basically they are born and aren't getting hard-ons over her yellow dress.

There's nothing wrong with Katy's attire or the music, just a bunch of culture warriors being dumb droppy tittied cunts.

spurs_fan_in_exile
09-23-2010, 03:55 PM
According to the producers she's actually not showing any cleavage at all. The upper chest portion is just kind of flesh colored. If you freeze frame it's pretty clear that the silver necklace is actually a neckline. Still that's not a whole lot of dress. My guess is that puppeteer running Elmo convinced the crew to shoot the segment anyway so he could get an upskirt view on her.

Well it's much clearer now on my laptop, than it was on my phone, that it's one of those kind of costumes the figure skaters wear with the flesh colored fabric. But I guess people could still say it's a bit too much cleavage for a kids' show. I've never really paid attention to her before this; she's adorable.

Come on! That's not true--the costume is see-through with a sheer fabric covering her chest. All you have to do is watch her jiggle to know that is her skin and her breasts. It's a lot worse the bigger it gets. I suggest going on Youtube and maximizing it on a computer screen.

I'm all for free speech. Part of the reason I come here is because I know people are allowed to say whatever they want and it usually doesn't get edited. But this is just inappropriate for children. From "mommy what's that" to concerns with older siblings in this home, and, more importantly, the child wanting to emulate this behavior (establishing it as a norm for later in life, asking for an outfit that looks like that one at whatever age they are now), this is just a big problem.

Should we have dildos on the set of Sesame Street simply because kids don't know what they are? Kids mimic these shows--I know I did. I got a cocker spaniel when I was 5 because I saw Lady and the Tramp. My brother had Knight Rider toys. I had Zorro masks because the Disney Channel ran re-runs. We used to fight in the backyard of a neighbor because we all loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

She sings one of her songs. The original version comes on the radio and kids are going to start playing "tag." Some may want to look the part.

Anyone who thinks this is okay obviously has no experience with a child. If you show a child a sexual act too early in life, they will do what they do in most instances--mimic the behavior until someone explains what it is and when the appropriate time for that behavior is.

I'm gonna be honest I didn't read all this, but having traveled abroad this American fear of sex is ridiculous. Especially when compared to the permissive attitude towards violence. In the US, movies can feature decapitation, disemboweling, and all the shit in the Hostel movies but if a movie shows a guy kissing a girl's vagina its an immediate NC-17. Hell, even showing vagina is usually an immediate NC-17.

Really, what's going to happen if a kid sees a boob? Nothing.

Sounds like some some want women in the US to wear burqas. Great trolls.

Here is a little more on the topic of burqas.

"And say to the faithful women to lower their gazes, and to guard their private parts, and not to display their beauty except what is apparent of it, and to extend their headcoverings to cover their bosoms, and not to display their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their womenfolk, or what their right hands rule (slaves), or the followers from the men who do not feel sexual desire, or the small children to whom the nakedness of women is not apparent, and not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments."

Don't see the big deal at all. Wouldn't think twice about my kids watching this... except for the crappy music.

Never happened.

The only kind of raping I've experienced that's associated with Katy Perry is the raping her music does to my ears.

lol defending Katy Perry.

Here's your news flash: Insipid is a simple, 7-letter word you can probably find on any fourth-grade spelling list and anybody who reads anything other than sports website forums should know what it means.
