I REALLY hope Konami brings the goods this year with PES 2011 to challenge FIFA 11.

I've been playing the shit out of the pes 2011 demo with modded stuff on the PC, and it's excellent. I've also played a lot of the FIFA 11 demo on ps3 and it's, well, the same game over and over again. Not saying it's a bad thing, but it gets a little old scoring the same types of goals year after year. And there is virtually ZERO difference between players except for speed and obviously appearance.

PES 2011 on the other hand, there's soo many ways to score, the gameplay is a lot slower and more fluid, and Master League online sealed the deal for me. I already preordered the PC version from the Konami UK store so i'll have it Thursday night.

- Rookie is too easy. Almost everything you shoot goes in.
- Pro ends up being too easy too once you figure out you can steal the ball at will. I racked up 40 steals with TP on a 8min/quarter game.

After playing a couple franchise games, I have no doubt my only complaint is the fucking passing. They always lead the passer, and it ends up getting stolen. There is no incentive to NOT front every single post player. Hopefully they patch that quickly.

Couldn't you use icon passing and rotate the ball around to the weak side, then dump it into the post? If he's fronting, he should be easy to box out when the ball shifts to the other side.

Alternatively, are there sliders you can adjust to make the computer less aware defensively?

Another glitch I found is that you can have the ball near the 3 point line, call and ISO, then slightly tap the controller up, and the guy defending you will basically move out of the way for about a second. That way you can score on almost every possession if you have a halfway decent finisher.

I played a close game @ Phoenix with the Lakers; in crunch time, I have 1 pt lead with L.A :D, Nash goes for one of his off balance shots - and even his off balance shot is one of his signature moves.

He scores, and in the process, he is fouled by Fisher; out of curiosity, on the replay, I isolate Kobe to see his reaction, even though he wasnt the fouler, and I noticed him swinging his arm like in disgust he does in real life - same reaction he had when Mason had that 4 point play vs the Lakers 2 seasons ago (Fisher comitted the foul too, lol)


Even players like Kerr, Price and Ainge, move laterally without the ball behind the 3 pt play line they used to
Dumars between the legs dribbles and hid rainbow shots, the way Hrace Grant stands up, the way Cartwright legs are set before the opening tip off

After having the game 6 days, I'm finally starting to know what I'm doing in the post, as in being able to make counter-moves and quick decisions when there is no help in the middle or baseline etc. I play a fantasy association and Aldridge is my PF... He is definitely doing work!

I haven't mucked with the sliders to much, but on simulation mode at least, I recommend turning down the CPU stealing/play passing lanes to reduce the number of intercepts... I actually have no problem with it as such, it's just when the game doesn't pass the ball to the right guy that you have selected when you aren't using icon passing. T's probably one of the only bad things about the game and it happens to me a couple of times each match. Awfully frustrating when your guy tries to throw a cross-court pass to the opposite baseline when you were clearly trying to pass it to an open guy on the 45'.

I chucked up the success of 3pt shots for CPU and User as well... Teams were going to 2-17 and 1-11 against me almost every game and even when I would use gun 3pt shooting team Phoenix I would be 3-15 n shit all the time.

It really depends on how long you hold the ball each possession. If you average 13-16 seconds per possession, the scores will be a lot higher than if you take your time and work for a shot.

Yeah, they intercept too many passes, while the CPU can throw full court passes with relative frequency without nearly as many interceptions. The only real flaw in this game, but one that's completely adjustable.

Just yesterday, I was down by 2 in the closing moments of a game with 5 seconds left

Time out, inbound pass to Magic, I go to the hoop, all alone, for a wide open dunk or lay-up - at this point there are 3 seconds left which is enough time - and for some reason, Earvin makes a ballerina move and releases the ball after the buzzer :madrun
It was frustrating because I had made a nice comeback, down by 10 points - on the road - with 2 minutes left
(On top of that, the layup was rejected by the rim)

I always take the 30 seconds necessary for turning off auto subs, timeouts, and fouling directly from the Association menu so I never have to worry about it again.

i don't understand it? i have played the shit out of this game since 2k4 or so and haven't been able to shoot at a high clip from anywhere outside the paint. shit is annoying as hell!

I was never able to be a play a good post game in the previous 2k games, but this year I've been throwing it down to Duncan almost every possession, and he delivers. If I keep it up playing this way, he can be a top 10 leading scorer.

Got it a few days ago. Definitely a big step up from 2k10 and the best simulation basketball game I've played. Still, it has its problems and IGN kinda over hyped it. But its still a great game and any basketball fan that has a intrest in gaming should buy it.

Picked up this game yesterday and love it so far.

I am totally terrible though.

Anyone have any place i can look to learn how to do things like, set picks, dribble moves, etc...When i get the ball in the paint i usually chuck up some really weak shot, not sure how to do any decent post moves.

The manual for the game doesn't have a whole lot of info.

I made a PF and so far i am decent at boxing out and rebounding, but that is about it.

Definitely a marked improvement. The rebounding kicks ass - I don't know how many times I've lost rebounds because they didn't have a "tracking" system for them to grab it a little out of their range. Also, blocking shots and bodying up in the paint is much easier. The overall engine still needs a massive update as the controls are unresponsive as hell (like every 2k before it), but still, a great game, worth the price, and the most realistic yet.

AI stealing passes ability is absolutely outrageous. Can be fixed with sliders for regular games but it can make playing My Player games crazy annoying.

Otherwise, this is a freaking kick ass game. Games seem much more realistic now. I average about half as many points in the paint as I did in 2k10 (80 points in the paint was the norm in that game).

I was ready to toss it in the garbage in my first game, though. I was playing the Pistons against the Thunder and Kevin Durant dropped 50 on me. I stuck with it though and I'm glad I did. :tu

I just hung 67 points on 29-34 points in the first half (16 minutes) with '96 Jordan to jump on the 87' Celtics 73-20. The only reason I quit was because I wasn't doing it on the Jordan challenge, so it's all for naught.

So far, I have tried to beat only 2 MJ challenges:

- 55 pts at the Garden: success

- Flu game: scored a shitload of points, but failed in other statistical categories


They are not easy because it's not just about scoring a certain number of points; for example, I was lucky to beat the MSG game challenge; I knew I was well on my way to scoring 55 pts, but then I realized that I was shooting under 55%; I had to make sure to hit high % shots the rest of the way

After getting tired of Andre I ball hogging like crazy, I talked shit like crazy.... started getting booed in the home arena.... haha, nothing like dropping 30 while your fans are chanting "trade him". Got traded to the Hornets.... another last place team.... Rating of 50, averaging 17ppg and in 2nd place in the ROY votes, behind Wall averaging 18ppg with a rating almost 30 above mine.

I like the faster progress you make with the skill points in 2K11 compared to the hell of 2K10. Hopefully with the awards and milestones to bump up my skill point balance, I'll start the next season with a rating above 70.

It's really helped me to use all my skill points to max out my free throw rating and medium shot range. But then again I'm a slashing SG. Have only had one key game that was against the Lakers which gave me double skill points. Hopefully towards the end of the year, with playoff position deciding games, the key games will be less of a rarity.

It'd be nice to have injuries affect your max ratings. Like with your ankle injury, you'd never be able to have top speed or juke moves. It would suck for you, but it would be realistic.

Got my rating up to 52....after hitting the 50 game and 1000 career points milestones.... Now averaging 21ppg, but still behind Wall for ROY. Was asked by management to suggest 5 players to go after before the trade deadline. Picked realistic targets, didn't get any. Just hit the Allstar break, named to the Rookie team. My Hornets are in 7th place and coming back from 9th. Nice to see the Spurs being in the #1, hopefully that'll come true in reality.

You can cheese fest the heck out of My Player if you have a player with good speed and stamina. Works best for guards. Instead of trying to grab a defensive rebound, just jet up the court to the other basket when an opponent makes a shot. If they miss and your team grabs a rebound, your teammate will often throw the ball upcourt to you for an easy fastbreak dunk (this can backfire if they get an offensive rebound). I cranked the minutes per game up to 10 and cheesed my way through the draft combine doing this averaging over 50 ppg. I was projected to go 9th but ended up going 10th in the first round.

If anything, it's an easy way to grab a bunch of skill points before you get to an NBA team. I don't really use that tactic on my NBA team. Isn't really fun to do it that way. I hate the draft combine and summer circuit anyway.

Having loads of fun now that I actually got to the NBA season. My team (Pacers) sucks big time though, and the coach is always playing me SG next to Collison (I'm a PG). Collison is a huge ball hog and is constantly making terrible decisions. We were blown out by the Spurs by 30 points in our first game. I scored 14 off the bench, and that led the team in scoring. I might be requesting a trade from this crap soon.

The MyPlayer changes did affect my game with the playcalling, but after I adjusted and found my spots, I can get my shots. At first I was frustrated with not getting the ball and CP3 hogging the ball and/or constantly feeding West in the post. But after my consistent shot, more plays were called for me. Just finished the regular season last night, my Hornets are in 7th place facing the Lakers in the 1st round. Wall beat me out for ROY, even though I averaged 23ppg over his 17 or so, in addition to averaging more blocks, steals, rebounds.... the only thing he had an edge was on assists.
