Mavericks' Jason Terry unhappy with Las Vegas encounter with Gregg Popovich

During the Las Vegas summer league, Jason Terry said he bumped into Spurs' coach Gregg Popovich.

It was not a happy reunion.

"It was the Spurs, our rival,'' Terry said of the playoff loss. "And then I see Pop in Vegas. We talked a little and that was definitely part of the conversation, them beating us after we got them (the previous year).''

Terry didn't go into details, but it was clear that Popovich took great delight in the payback. And Terry didn't like having to hear it, even though it was the truth.

Terry added that the way last season ended left a lasting burn.

"It's eating at me now,'' he said. "And until we get to the playoffs next spring and win a series and get to the conference finals and Finals, it's still going to eat at me.''

This was actually posted in the Spurs forum, but seeing as how (somewhat idiotically) most ST Mav fans can't go in there, I was curious to see whatchall thought about this. ~Fp

What's more plausible? Terry making shit up and being an attention whore, or Pop talking shit to an opponent in the middle of the offseason?

Again, I wouldn't be surprised if it was both. Pop prolly saw Jason and sarcastically mentioned something without much thought and w/ even less venom and a stabbing pain shot through JT's ovaries...

I wonder which Spur he's going to punch in the nuts this year.

JET's a piece of shit.

Then it will be eating at him until he retires.

Jet used to be Mavs most dependable shooter outside the 3pt line but I have to admit he's turned somehow classless over recent years for some reason.

Bowen had his share of dirty plays, but he never deliberately punched anyone in the sack after play had stopped. Plus he's a class act off the court. Terry's just a bitch.

DB.com talks to Jason Terry to clear this up.
“I don’t know this has turned into anything,’’ Jet tells me. “They’ve got rings. Pop’s one of the greatest coaches in NBA history. I have the utmost respect for Pop in every way, as a coach, as a person. Believe me when I tell you: There is nobody in Dallas who doesn’t respect Pop. … Him and the Spurs, they have all the rings.’’
