View Full Version : Blazers broadcasters whining that Jeff Pendergraph > "Teego" Splitter
objective

Found this marginally amusing, and it's Spurs related.
Just started listening to an official Blazers podcast, and the show starts by the Blazer broadcasters talking about the NBA Preview magazines that are out, and one immediately whines about how that mags don't rate Jeff Pendergraph among the top 35 PFs in the NBA and specifically complains about "Teego" Splitter. Also complains that Derrick Favors shouldn't be ahead of Pendergraph.

Good player but come on, All-Pac 10 1st team his senior year doesn't equate to All-Euroleague 1st team or Spanish League MVP of Splitter.

Blazers broadcasters are the worst. Living out here in Portland now, they are very unreasonable.

did any on you guys watch the lakers training camp on nbatv? they asked the gen manager who he thought can compete with them he said "well i think the MAVS,PORT are going to be really tough this year and so will OKC & jazz." i was like huh???
So then phil comes and talks to the nbatv crew, and they ask him the same Q and he also says the mavs, utah then he says "we know san antonio is going to re-emerge as a top team in the W again and be tough with their new players".
which i didnt believe because after that he said "the suns are going to be tough,cp3 will always make his team good" guess he was just being respectful but i honestly think everyone considers us dead!

I'm glad a few of you guys say the Blazer annoucers are bad because I used to live in Oregon and completely agree. They're HUGE homers and think they have the best team every year. I know it's their job to report on the Blazers but lets be real. The only thing they do is give their fans false hope.
Pendegraph was good at ASU but not dominate. He also had Hardin on his team and they weren't the best team in a terrible PAC-10.

Nothing really to laugh at here.
We breathe air, eat food, drink water, reproduce and the Blazers fail. Anything else would go against the natural order of things.

lol, just started listening to hour 2 of that show.
The hilarity continued.
The broadcasters have an interview with Pendergraph, where this time they whine to Pendergraph himself about Splitter and Favors being ranked ahead of him. Pendergraph didn't even know who Splitter was. One host then asked him that "does that make your blood boil and want to kill somebody? Especially these two guys, Splitter!?"
Pendergraph jokingly responds that he wants to beat up a lot of people, then hits on the real reason he's not ranked higher than those guys . . . "Politics". Magazine writers didn't personally know Pendergraph and they only cared about names and popularity.
Followed by him referring to Splitter and Favors with the question "What have you done? you haven't proven anything." And then Pendergraph boasted that he, the unrated guy, would be smacking them around.
Awesome.

If he was any good they would have let him sit out the season and come back next year. Especially since they already cleared up a roster spot by sending Bayless out.

I get what you're saying. I'm not sure how it works in the NBA, but I know in the NFL, you can't release an injured player, even if their contract is non-guaranteed.

He did look pretty good the two or three times I saw him play. Spurs can pick him up and use him as the 'McDyess replacement' next year. Not gonna happen, but it would be a great 'screw you too' to the Blazers if it did and he panned out for us. :lol

portland: where great potential ends up in the OR!!!!
if i were a draft prospect, i would try any means necessary to make sure i didn't end up on that team. If I am Lillard, I get the hell out of there the minute my rookie contract is done.....before the curse of the brokedown knee gets him too.

About to crash like teddy pendergrass, mama said a hard head make a tender ass
I remember Pendergraph in his first year in Portland. He had solid games against the Spurs and was making a name and case for himself in the league. Unfortunately, he suffered the Blazer curse and injured his knee. Not sure he has shown the same promise since, but the Spurs are surely betting they can retap what he did earlier in his career.

I've lived in Eugene my entire life, I hate watching Spurs game on the Blazers network. I've never heard bigger whiners about officiating on any sports network. They seriously sometimes act as if Duncan is only good because of reffing help.
