For once, I feel fortunate to have Time Warner Cable.

Don't let them turn that world into a reality.

(Not to mention, the hardware for those dishes is ridiculous. The dish itself doesn't look terrible, but the mic stand on steroids that they post it on sure isn't aesthetic at all)

TWC and Direct tv is the best. Specially for sports, you can't go wrong with Direct tv.

Having either DTV or Dish - you'd better hope there's never a heavy thunderstorm during a good game.

I hate direct tv, I lose signal even before it rains!

I'm not sure if they'll be streaming the NBA games but ATDHE.net might be streaming it, they almost always have all the sporting events including some PPV fights. That's what I watch the NFL games on, and that's where I watched the FIBA games.

my direct usually doesn't go out during rain its got to be some heavy ass winds and rain and even then its only for a minute or two at most

Sucks but they will get this sorted out. Besides the NFL network TWC was/is the same way. I love dish network though, their interface is so much better than Directs and TWC's and I have used all 3.

They'll get their shit together sooner than later. I'm glad it happened now and not during the season.

I'm loving watching HD games on Dish. They have really good quality in general for HD feeds, unlike Comcast who compressed the shit out of the 2 or 3 HD games they would show.

I never had a problem with DTV. Even it goes out, only for few seconds. Its all depend on the signal strength you have when you install it. If they do it for you, its always better.

TWC is just about as awful as it gets IMO. Our internet is slow, their hardware breaks all the time, we keep getting "This channel is not available at this time" warnings on all our HD channels, and the TWC solution is to "just reset your box." The DVR forgets to record scheduled shows sometimes, or only records half... I would switch to U-Verse in a heart beat, but they don't provide their services in our area. The only reason that I'm with TWC is because they don't require a contract, so I'm switching as soon as a better alternative comes up. Oh, and we live in an apartment that won't let us have dish...

i had dish before and i like it, for me it hardly went out, yes even in the rain. the times that i recall it going out was when the rain would be coming down in buckets. but i wanted to upgrade all my tv with HD and dish couldnt do it so i switched to u-vers and havent looked back. it is great, the whole watch the recording in any room works wonders.

Over 10 years with DirecTV..no issues man.. give it a shot.. the thunderstorm thing is overblown.. I had TWC in McAllen, TX in 1998 before switching to DTV... best decision I've ever made.. moved it with me back to SA...hardly think about the service anymore...bill is on autopay..$10.00 off bill for that by the way... free HD....sheesh..I would definitely consider it.... Peace.

i think just about everyone has free HD now. it will not be all that long before DVR boxes are not even necessary any longer. movies will just be stored on a server and you can access through a 2 way device

Dish does this with everyone and they do it publicly to force settlements from the channels so they don't have to raise rates. It'll likely get worked out. It does get annoying though. They actually announced that they were developing a new system to replace The Weather Channel and it was all just a bluff to get TWC to negotiate.

I don't know if its DTV or it's preseason on league pass. What ever the reason maybe, this is the first time I get to see Spurs playing in PS game for the first time out here in So Cal. We only got to see Spurs vs Clippers or Lakers before on preseason, now this year i get to watch all the games. So, thanks DTV.

Just confirmed that even though Dish doesn't currently carry FSSW NBA league pass will still be blacking out games accessed through Dish.

So the thought of just bypassing the FSSW issue by picking up league pass is a no go.

I may just pick up grande for a month or two until this is settled.

Fucks sake I was just going to get the broadband and read this

Local and national market blackout rules apply based on your location. Nationally and locally televised games are subject to blackouts and are therefore not available via NBA LEAGUE PASS BROADBAND (regardless of home or away)

ElNono
10-21-2010, 08:26 AM
B2B, I think you're talking about two different things.
Blackout rules always applied, and depend on where you live. This has always been the case, even before any contractual dispute between dish and Fox.

If you have NBALP and Dish, then you get the complimentary broadband service, and you should be able to watch the games online through that service. That's my understanding anyways.

Regardless of whether my provider actually carries the local channel feed or not.

Couldnt you run your feed through an IP diverter of some sort? There is a specific term for this, but I forget what it is. Basically, you set it up so that you connect to the LP server by sending your signal, which is then re-routed before it hits the LP server to look like it is coming from an IP address in Dallas or something. I know there are programs out there that do this for you, I just can't remember what they are called.

If you are happy with your cable provider you should call them and ask if they have any good offers for another year. We always do that every year and it works well enough that we keep them for another year.

Also there's a cover you can get for your dish that protects it during a heavy thunderstorm.

Other than that, no comparison.

That's a tactic all providers use to keep their prices as low as possible, and Dish does it the most often. If you didn't care about what it costs, you probably didn't have Dish in the first place. If you're bitching about it now, then you haven't been paying attention.
