On showtime with Laura Linney...on Mondays
Anyone watching this?
She's got cancer -doesn't have long to live...
but she doesn't tell her family about it which makes it pretty brave of her
and interesting to watch because her family just thinks she's going nuts due to
all the crazy things she starts doing...

That sounds absolutely fucking awful. She can at least tell her family so they don't get pissed off at her. If she can't afford treatment or refuses it, that's fine, but don't leave the most important people in your life out of the death loop.

Kind of a dick move, not telling your immediate family at least........

Dishonesty is a big feature of TV shows and ads.

Yeah, makes for TV that people will watch, I guess.

...yeah,
but that also makes it interesting, instead of a cryfest we see people treating her the same-like her teenage son being kind of a dik to her.
Also it can be bittersweet/funny when she starts pulling out her savings,401k,etc..
and starts buying shit and splurging on stuff.
Everyone just thinks she's having a midlife crisis--but she is just trying to squeeze everything out of life.
She has told a neighbor and a couple of strangers so far-but has kept the news away from her loved ones.

I'm still a little raw from my sister last spring, so I think I will skip that one.
Just hope you aren't ever in that situation.
It can be done where it's not sad/depressing but it takes a huge amount of love and patience.
I basically put my life on hold for two months and took care of her as the C was taking her magnificent brain. I had to negotiate meetings with my parents and coach them on how to talk to her and manage the conversations to keep them from spinning out of control into sob-fests. I kept her as happy and as content as possible right to the end although it drove ME crazy at times.

Been through something slightly similar. It's a really fucked up thing to experience for yourself. Definitely won't be watching this.

Dishonesty is fantasy for some and reality for many others.

Pretty good show. Linney is pretty good looking for an older lady.
